Day 1
Happy Monday Arrow Makers! Last week we ended Genesis 30, and now we are starting Genesis 31! In preparation for the lessons to come, let’s read all of Genesis 31 to your Tiny Arrows!
Day 2
At the end of chapter 30 we learned that Jacob had made his own flock from Laban’s and had become wealthy. Laban’s sons saw that he was becoming wealthy and said that Jacob took Laban’s wealth. They thought that Jacob had taken what belonged to their father. Today let’s ready Genesis 31:1 and Ephesians 4:29 and explain how Laban’s sons were not building Jacob up, they were trying to tear him down. It is important to try to build others up with our talk. Have your Tiny Arrow practice only building others up with when they talk today!
Jacob heard that Laban’s sons were saying, “Jacob has taken everything our father owned and has gained all this wealth from what belonged to our father.” – Genesis 31:1 NIV
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. – Ephesians 4:29
Day 3
Jacob heard that Laban’s sons thought he had taken all Laban’s wealth, and that Laban was not happy with him either. Laban had asked Jacob to stay because he was being blessed by God because of Jacob, and now Laban wasn’t happy because everything he had been blessed with was being slowly given to Jacob. Today let’s read Genesis 31:2 and grab a handful of small objects. Place them in one pile and say how they represent what Laban owns. Then a little at a time start a new pile using some of the objects from the first. Explaining that Jacob’s flocks came from Laban’s. Add more to the pile until there is more in Jacob’s pile then Laban’s. Then explain that at first Laban was happy to have so much, then sad and angry to be getting less.
And Jacob noticed that Laban’s attitude toward him was not what it had been. – Genesis 31:2 NIV
Day 4
After Jacob knew that Laban and his sons were not happy with Jacob’s wealth, the Lord spoke to Jacob and told him to go back to Canaan. Back to his fathers house. Today let’s read Genesis 31:3 and remind your Tiny Arrow that the Lord had told Jacob he would be with him on his journey and would be with him on the way back. Then take your Tiny Arrow for a walk to a specific place and hold their hand or walk close as you go. Once you reach a specific spot explain that God was with Jacob on his way to Paddan Aram, was with him I. Paddan Aram, and would be with him on the way home and with him when he got home. Then walk close to or holding hands back to where you started from.
Then the Lord said to Jacob, “Go back to the land of your fathers and to your relatives, and I will be with you. – Genesis 31:3 NIV
Day 5
Jacob was told to go back to Canaan by God, so he sent word to his two wives, Leah and Rachel to meet him in the fields. He wanted to talk with them. Today let’s read Genesis 31:4 and color the coloring page!
So Jacob sent word to Rachel and Leah to come out to the fields where his flocks were. – Genesis 31:4 NIV
Day 6
We learned that Jacob sent for his two wives, Rachel and Leah. They met him in the fields and Jacob got to talk with them. Jacob told them that Laban was not acting the same as he once had, but God had been with him. Today let’s read Genesis 31:5 and talk with your Tiny Arrows about God being with you or someone in the Bible when things, people or situations change!
He said to them, “I see that your fathers attitude toward me is not what it was before, but the God of my father has been with me.” – Genesis 31:5 NIV
Day 7
Jacob had worked hard for Laban, and now Laban wasn’t happy with Jacob. Today let’s read Genesis 31:6 and encourage/direct your Tiny Arrow to do a chore that will use their strength, and explain that Jacob used his strength to work for Laban!
“You know that I’ve worked for your father with all my strength.” – Genesis 31:6 NIV
Day 8
Jacob had worked hard for Laban, and Laban had changed Jacob’s payment 10 times! But God was still with Jacob! Today let’s read Genesis 31:7 and grab a few small items. Put them in a row in front of your Tiny Arrow and explain that Laban changed what he would give to Jacob 10 times! Go to give your Tiny Arrow one of the objects, then before you give it to them, pick a different object. Continue to do this until you change it 10 times! Count off the number of times you change what you are giving to your Tiny Arrow to help them understand how many times it changed!
“Yet your father has cheated me by changing my wages ten times. However, God has not allowed him to harm me.” – Genesis 31:7 NIV
Day 9
Laban kept changing Jacob’s wages, because he did not want Jacob to have more! He would give him the speckled flocks, and the flocks would have all speckled babies. When Laban changed it to streaked animals, the babies would all be streaked! Today let’s read Genesis 31:8 and using the coloring page, color streaked and speckled babies based off what was given to Jacob!
“If he said, ‘The speckled ones will be your wages,’ then all the flocks gave birth to speckled young; and if he said ‘The streaked ones will be your wages,’ then all the flocks bore streaked young.” – Genesis 31:8 NIV
Day 10
Jacob knew that God was taking away Laban’s livestock and giving it to him. He was telling his wives what was going on, and that God had been with him the whole time, no matter what happened. Today let’s read Genesis 31:9 and grab a few different colored small objects. Put them in a pile and explain that they were all Laban’s. Then say Jacob got all the blue (or the color of one of the objects) ones, and put them in Jacob’s pile. Slowly go through every color/design of the objects in Laban’s pile until they are all in Jacob’s pile!
“So God has taken away your father’s livestock and has given them to me.” – Genesis 31:9 NIV
Day 11
Jacob was telling his wives how their father Laban was not treating him fairly. He kept changing what he would be paid with and he was no longer happy with Jacob. Then Jacob told his wives about a dream he had! Jacob had a dream about animals! Today let’s read Genesis 31:10 and ask your Tiny Arrow if they had a dream, and what it was about!
“In breeding season I once had a dream in which I looked up and saw that the male goats mating with the flock were streaked, speckled or spotted.” – Genesis 31:10 NIV
Day 12
Jacob was telling his wives about his dream! He told them there were animals, then the Angel of God talked to him! He told him to look up and see the animals were what Jacob would get and that He was the one making the flocks a certain way because of Laban. God was taking care of Jacob! Today let’s read Genesis 31:11-12 and go look at the clouds! See if you can spot any animals shapes in the clouds and the person who spots them, gets that animal! For example, if you see a cloud that looks like an elephant, you get all the elephants, etc.
“The angel of God said to me in the dream, ‘Jacob.’ I answered, ‘Here I am.’ And he said, ‘Look up and see that all the male goats mating with the flock are streaked, speckled or spotted.” – Genesis 31:11-12 NIV
Day 13
Jacob had a dream where he was talking to God and God said He saw all that Laban had been doing to him! Today let’s read Genesis 31:12 and Hebrews 4:13 then make binoculars out of a paper roll and tape or use your hands and point out what you see! Focus on certain things, then put the binoculars down and say how you can see more when you are not focusing on one thing. Then say that God sees everything! He can focus on small details and see the big picture too!
“‘for I have seen all that Laban has been doing to you.” – Genesis 31:12 NIV
Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. – Hebrews 4:13 NIV
Day 14
God was speaking to Jacob in a dream! This was the second dream Jacob had of God talking to him! He was telling him that He was making sure Jacob got paid! God told him that He was the same God who he dreamed about in Bethel were he anointed a pillar. Today let’s read Genesis 31:13 and ask your Tiny Arrow if they have ever had a dream about something twice, or something similar.
“I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed a pillar and where you made a vow to me.” – Genesis 31:13 NIV
Day 15
Jacob had a dream where God talked to him! He told him He was the same God who Jacob had dreamed about before and now God wanted him to leave Paddan Aram and go back home! Today let’s finish Genesis 31:13 and have your Tiny Arrow lay down and pretend to sleep. Then tell them to do something, like go grab a toy or have a snack. Once they open their eyes encourage them to do what you said while they were pretending to sleep. Then explain that Jacob had a dream about God telling him he would be with him, and then he had a dream about God telling him to go back home!
“Now leave this land at once and go back to your native land.’” – Genesis 31:13 NIV
Day 16
Jacob was talking to Rachel and Leah about wanting to go back home, and his wives answered by saying they did not think they had any share in their father’s estate. They would not get anything from their father. Today let’s read Genesis 31:14 and discuss inheritance with your Tiny Arrows. Did it will you inherit anything? A grandma’s necklace, some pictures or books? Rachel and Leah did not expect anything from their father.
Then Rachel and Leah replied, “Do we still have any share in the inheritance of our fathers estate?” – Genesis 31:14 NIV
Day 17
Rachel and Leah did not expect anything from their father. They even thought that their father treated them differently now, like they were no longer his children. Then even said that there father sold them and used up what was paid for them! Today let’s read Genesis 31:15 and ask your Tiny Arrows what was used to pay for Rachel and Leah. 14 years of Jacob working for their father! 7 years for Leah and 7 years for Rachel!
“Does he not regard us as foreigners? Not only has he sold us, but he has used up what was paid for us.” – Genesis 31:15 NIV
Day 18
Rachel and Leah were talking to Jacob out in the fields. Jacob told them God had helped him to be wealthy, and his wives agreed that what God did was good! They thought that what God took away from Laban now belonged to Jacob and his family. They wanted Jacob to do whatever God told him to do! Today let’s read Genesis 31:16 encourage your Tiny Arrows to ask you what God has told you to do, and have them respond with, “So do whatever God has told you!”
“Surely all the wealth that God took away from our father belongs to us and our children. So do whatever God has told you.” – Genesis 31:16 NIV
Day 19
After Jacob, Rachel and Leah talked, they got on camels so they could go back to Jacob’s home! Today let’s read Genesis 31:17 and color the coloring page.
Then Jacob put his children and his wives on camels, – Genesis 31:17 NIV
Day 20
Jacob put his family on camels and had his animals and things go before them. Today let’s read Genesis 31:18 and grab a small bag and fill it some of your Tiny Arrows possessions. Then have them walk with the bag in front of them at arms length. Explain that Jacob put his stuff before him, not behind him, and demonstrate putting the bag behind them.
And he drove all his livestock ahead of him, along with all the goods he had accumulated in Paddan Aram, to go to his father Isaac in the land of Canaan. – Genesis 31:18 NIV
Day 21
We learned that Jacob had taken his family, flocks and things and left to go back home. Before they left, and while Laban was busy taking care of his sheep, Rachel stole something from her father! She stole his household gods! Some people think that she did not want Laban to use the household gods to help Laban find out where they went! She was trying to hide the evidence and clues that they had left! Today let’s read Genesis 31:19 and set up a scene for your Tiny Arrow to decipher. Say you are going somewhere and they need to figure out where it is. Leave a few clues on the table about the place, and see if they can determine where you are going by the clues! For example, a grocery bag or running shoes.
When Laban had gone to shear his sheep, Rachel stole her fathers household gods. – Genesis 31:19
Day 22
Jacob and his family left, and he had not told Laban he was leaving. He left without saying goodbye! Today let’s read Genesis 31:20 and come up with something fun for you and your Tiny Arrow to do instead of saying goodbye. Maybe a hug, high five or kiss! Explain how you are emphasizing a goodbye, but Jacob skipped saying goodbye and just left!
Moreover, Jacob deceived Laban the Aramean by not telling him he was running away. – Genesis 31:20
Day 23
Jacob and his family left! They crossed a river and headed for the hill country! Today let’s read Genesis 31:21 and make a path from Laban’s house through the river and to the hills!
So he fled with all he had, crossed the Euphrates River, and headed for the hill country of Gilead. – Genesis 31:21
Day 24
Jacob and his family had left without telling Laban. Three days after they left, Laban was told that they had gone! Today let’s read Genesis 31:22 and tell your Tiny Arrow something that happened three days ago, and ask them if they can tell you something that happened three days ago!
On the third day Laban was told that Jacob had fled. – Genesis 31:22 NIV
Day 25
Jacob and his family left to go back to Canaan, and Laban didn’t know about it! When Laban found out he took his family with him and went after Jacob. It took him seven days to catch up with him! Today let’s read Genesis 31:23 and play tag! Pretend you are Laban and your Tiny Arrow is Jacob. Give them a seven second head start, counting out loud the timing, then go and catch them!
Taking his relatives with him, he pursued Jacob for seven days and caught up with him in the hill country of Gilead. – Genesis 31:23 NIV
Day 26
We learned that Jacob and his family left to go back to Canaan, and when Laban found out, he followed him! Then God came to Laban in a dream and told him to not say anything to Jacob, either good or bad! God was looking out for Jacob and was making sure Laban knew that He was on Jacob’s side! This is like when your parent or older sibling comes to help you out! Today let’s read Genesis 31:24 and have your Tiny Arrow do something that they need help with. Maybe the monkey bars or a puzzle. Then help your Tiny Arrow do the activity. Explain how God was looking out for Jacob, just like you were with them!
Then God came to Laban the Aramean in a dream at night and said to him, “Be careful not to say anything to Jacob, either good or bad.” – Genesis 31:24 NIV
Day 27
Jacob was camped in the hill country of Gilead and Laban reached him! He had followed him for 7 days and caught up with him! Today let’s read Genesis 31:25 and color the coloring page of Jacob’s tent by Laban’s tent!
Jacob had pitched his tent in the hill country of Gilead when Laban overtook him, and Laban and his relatives camped there too. – Genesis 31:25
Day 28
Laban camped next to Jacob and talked to him! He said that Jacob tricked shins down carried off his daughter like captives in war! Today let’s read Genesis 31:26 and grab 2 objects. Place them in the same room as you, and tell your Tiny Arrow they need to try to capture the objects! Then explain that’s what Laban said. He thought Jacob took his daughters like captives of war!
Then Laban said to Jacob, “What have you done? You’ve deceived me, and you’ve carried off my daughters like captives in war.” – Genesis 31:26
Day 29
Laban was talking with Jacob and said that he thought Jacob deceived him. If Jacob had told him he was leaving he would have sent him away with singing! Today let’s read Genesis 31:27 and when you, or someone leaves, then have you and your Tiny Arrow sing to them until they go!
“Why did you run off secretly and deceive me? Why didn’t you tell me, so I could send you away with joy and singing to the music of timbrels and harps?” – Genesis 31:27
Day 30
Laban was talking with Jacob after he caught up with him. He said he would have sung to them as they left and then he would have kissed everyone goodbye! Today let’s read Genesis 31:28, and like yesterday when someone left you sung to them, today have your Tiny Arrow give them a kiss goodbye!
“You didn’t even let me kiss my grandchildren and my daughters goodbye. You have done a foolish thing.” – Genesis 31:28
Day 31
Laban had caught up with Jacob and was talking to him. He said he should have said goodbye and Laban would have said goodbye with singing and kisses! Then he said he would not punish Jacob because Laban had had a dream the night before! God had told him not to! Today let’s read Genesis 31:29 and ask your Tiny Arrow who was protecting Jacob? God was! And then ask them how God protected Jacob! By talking to Laban in a dream!
“I have the power to harm you; but last night the God of your father said to me, ‘Be careful not to say anything to Jacob, either good or bad.’” – Genesis 31:29 NIV
Day 32
Laban was talking to Jacob and said he would not punish him, and then he said Jacob had left because he wanted to go home, but did not understand why Jacob stole his gods. Jacob had been gone from home for 20 years! Today let’s read Genesis 31:30 and talk with you Tiny Arrow about how a time they might have been away from you. Was it a few minutes, hours, days? Then imagine not seeing your parents for 20 years! That’s a long time!
“Now you have gone off because you have longed to return to your father’s household. But why did you steal my gods?” – Genesis 31:30 NIV
Day 33
Jacob answered Laban that he had left without saying goodbye because he was afraid. He did not want Laban to take his wives award from him! Today let’s read Genesis 31:31 and ask your Tiny Arrow something they would not taken away from them that is important to them. Like a favorite toy or blanket!
Jacob answered Laban, “I was afraid, because I thought you would take your daughters away from me by force.” – Genesis 31:31 NIV
Day 34
Jacob told Laban he was afraid that he would have taken his wives by force and that he did not steal the gods. He did not think anyone in his camp had taken it either! He told Laban he could look for them! Today let’s read Genesis 31:32 and color the coloring page and circle what is missing from the second scene that’s in the first!
“But if you find anyone who has your gods, that person shall not live. In the presence of our relatives, see for yourself whether there is anything of yours here with me; and if so, take it.” – Genesis 31:32a NIV
Day 35
Jacob told Laban to search for his gods in Jacob’s things, but he did not know that Rachel had stolen them! Today let’s read Genesis 31:32b and grab a small toy, like a bouncy ball, and two or three cups. Your going to place the cups top down in front of your Tiny Arrow and secretly hide the ball under one of the cups. Then move the cups around, without revealing which cup is hiding the ball, and see if your Tiny Arrow can figure out where the ball is! Then talk about how Jacob did not know where Labans gods were, and thought it wasn’t even with him!
Now Jacob did not know that Rachel had stolen the gods. – Genesis 31:32b NIV
Day 36
We learned that Laban was looking for his gods inside of Jacob’s tents, but he couldn’t find them! Laban’s gods could not be found, but God can be found everywhere! He fills the heavens and the earth! Today let’s read Genesis 31:33 and Jeremiah 23:23-24 and grab an object to represent Laban’s gods. Then have your Tiny Arrow search a few rooms looking for the object, while you hold on to it, or hide it somewhere they will not be allowed to look. After they look into a room and cannot find it, tell them that God can be found there, since He is everywhere! Explain that Laban could not find his gods in the first tent, the second tent or the third and fourth tents, but God could be found in all of them!
So Laban went into Jacob’s tent and into Leah’s tent and into the tent of the two female servants, but he found nothing. After he came out of Leah’s tent, he entered Rachel’s tent. – Genesis 31:33 NIV
Am I a God who is near,” declares the LORD,
“And not a God far off? Can a person hide himself in hiding places So that I do not see him?” declares the LORD. “Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?” declares the LORD. – Jeremiah 23:23-24
Day 37
Laban was looking for his gods and could not find them. Rachel and hidden them by sitting on them! Today let’s read Genesis 31:34 and play Hot and Cold with a small item. “Hide” the object in a room and go into it with your Tiny Arrow and sit on it. Then play Hot and Cold until they find it! Then explain that Laban could not find the gods because Rachel was sitting on them!
Now Rachel had taken the household gods and put them inside her camel’s saddle and was sitting on them. Laban searched through everything in the tent but found nothing. – Genesis 31:34 NIV
Day 38
Rachel have her father an excuse for not standing up. She was sitting on his gods and did not want him to find them! He looked everywhere but could not find them! Today let’s read Genesis 31:35 and talk with your Tiny Arrows about a time they lost something and couldn’t find it! Maybe they were upset or frustrated. That’s probably how Laban felt. He looked everywhere and couldn’t find it!
Rachel said to her father, “Don’t be angry, my lord, that I cannot stand up in your presence; I’m having my period.” So he searched but could not find the household gods. – Genesis 31:35 NIV
Day 39
Jacob was mad at Laban for following him all that way for something that Laban could not find! Jacob felt like he was being hunted! Today let’s read Genesis 31:36 and go hunting! Look for lizards and caterpillars outside, or maybe a stuffed animal inside. When you find something, then talk about how what you found was not expecting you, just like Jacob was not expecting Laban!
Jacob was angry and took Laban to task. “What is my crime?” he asked Laban. “How have I wronged you that you hunt me down? – Genesis 31:36 NIV
Day 40
Jacob told Laban to show him what he found of his in Jacob’s tents. It was nothing! Today let’s read Genesis 31:37 and grab a piece of paper cut into 5 small strips, a pen, tape and 5 objects. Write Jacob’s name on each of the papers then tape them to the 5 objects. Have your Tiny Arrow pick them up one by one and help them read whose name is on the paper. Then ask if any of them read Laban. When they answer no, explain that Laban could not find anything that belonged to him in Jacob’s tents!
Now that you have searched through all my goods, what have you found that belongs to your household? Put it here in front of your relatives and mine, and let them judge between the two of us. – Genesis 31:37 NIV
Day 41
We learned that Jacob and Laban were talking. Laban thought Jacob had stolen his gods, and Jacob was not happy that Laban thought he did it! He told Laban he had worked for him for 20 years and had been a good worker! Today let’s read Genesis 31:38 and tell your Tiny Arrow how long you or someone else they know has ever worked for!
I have been with you for twenty years now. Your sheep and goats have not miscarried, nor have I eaten the rams of your flock. – Genesis 31:38 NIV
Day 42
Jacob was talking to Laban, telling him he was being a good worker! Anything that was harmed or stolen, Jacob paid for! That’s like if you work at a job selling popsicles and all the popsicles melt before you can sell them, you would have to pay for each popsicle! Today let’s read Genesis 31:39 and encourage your Tiny Arrow to give an example of working for something, then having to pay for what was broken or taken!
I did not bring you anything torn by wild beasts; I bore the loss myself. And you demanded payment from me for what was stolen by day or night. – Genesis 31:39 NIV
Day 43
Jacob is still telling Laban what a hard worker he was! He paid for anything that was broken or stolen, he didn’t take anything that he was looking after and then he said he was hot and cold and tired! Today let’s read Genesis 31:40 and ask your Tiny Arrow about a job that might make them hot, cold or tired!
As it was, the heat consumed me by day and the frost by night, and sleep fled from my eyes. – Genesis 31:40 NIV
Day 44
Jacob was still telling Laban even though he worked hard for 20 years, his payment was changed 10 times! Today let’s read Genesis 31:41 and count and fill out the graph of how long Jacob worked and how many times his payment changed!
Thus for twenty years I have served in your household—fourteen years for your two daughters and six years for your flocks—and you have changed my wages ten times! – Genesis 31:41 NIV
Day 45
Even though Jacob had worked very hard, he didn’t complain to Laban and quit. He knew God was looking out for him and taking care of him! His own flock grew and he had lots of children! He knew that God had looked after his grandfather and father and was looking after him too! Today let’s read Genesis 31:42 and talk with your Tiny Arrows about a time God looked after you, or Abraham or Issac!
If the God of my father, the God of Abraham and the Fear of Isaac, had not been with me, surely by now you would have sent me away empty-handed. But God has seen my affliction and the toil of my hands, and last night He rendered judgment.” – Genesis 31:42 NIV
Day 46
We learned that Jacob told Laban that God was looking out for him and had helped him. Now Laban is responding to Jacob, and he is not happy. He wants everything that was given to Jacob to be his! But even then Laban says there is nothing he can do about what Jacob had. Laban is acting out because he gave Jacob his daughters and flocks for working for him, and still thinks that they are still his! Today let’s read Genesis 31:43 and talk about when we give something to someone. Like when we give a friend a cookie, or a toy, we should be happy to be able to give and share and not want it back! Today let’s do something special for a friend. Maybe make them a bracelet, give them your treat, something that will show them you care and are happy to share!
But Laban answered Jacob, “These daughters are my daughters, these sons are my sons, and these flocks are my flocks! Everything you see is mine! Yet what can I do today about these daughters of mine or the children they have borne? – Genesis 31:43 NIV
Day 47
Laban knew that he could not take back what Jacob had, and decided to make a covenant with him instead! He wanted there to be a promise between him and Jacob! Today let’s read Genesis 31:44 and ask your Tiny Arrow if they know of any covenants or promises in the Bible! Abraham and God had a covenant!
“Come now, let us make a covenant, you and I, and let it serve as a witness between you and me.” – Genesis 31:44 NIV
Day 48
Jacob and Laban were making a covenant, or a promise, and Jacob found a stone and set it up as a pillar then gathered more stones around it to make a mound, a big pile. Then they ate by it! Today let’s read Genesis 31:45-46 and grab some rocks and a snack! Grab the biggest rock and put it in the middle, then stack the smaller rocks around it. Afterwards, have a snack by your rock mound!
So Jacob picked out a stone and set it up as a pillar, and he said to his relatives, “Gather some stones.” So they took stones and made a mound, and there by the mound they ate. – Genesis 31:45-46 NIV
Day 49
Jacob and Laban both named the mound of rocks they set up! Today let’s read Genesis 31:47! Jegar-sahadutha means witness heap in Aramaic and Galeed means witness heap in Hebrew! It was the same word in two different languages! Ask your Tiny Arrow if they know one word in two languages, maybe hello or goodbye? Then say them!
Laban called it Jegar-sahadutha, and Jacob called it Galeed. – Genesis 31:47 NIV
Day 50
We learned that Laban and Jacob made a covenant or promise and put a pile of rocks together to show that they both agreed! The place was called Galeed, or witness heap and it was called Mizpah! Mizpah means watchtower! Laban wanted God to watch over both of them! He also wanted God to make sure Jacob was treating his daughters well! Today let’s read Genesis 48-49 and make a watchtower out of blocks or get to a high place and pretend it’s a watchtower and ask your Tiny Arrow what they can see from there! When they are high up, they can see more! Just like God can see more since He is high!
Then Laban declared, “This mound is a witness between you and me this day.”
Therefore the place was called Galeed. It was also called Mizpah, because Laban said, “May the LORD keep watch between you and me when we are absent from each other. If you mistreat my daughters or take other wives, although no one is with us, remember that God is a witness between you and me.”- Genesis 31:48-50 NIV
Day 51
Laban told Jacob that he would not go past the mound or pillar they set up to hurt Jacob and Jacob could not go past it either to hurt Laban! They each had a safe zone! Today let’s read Genesis 31:51-52 and grab something for capture the flag. Make an imaginary line or use something thin and long and play capture the flag! The line represents the safe zone, one side is safe for one person, and the other side is safe for the other person. Each person has a “flag” on their side of the line that the other person has to cross the line and grab without getting tagged!
Laban also said to Jacob, “Here is the mound, and here is the pillar I have set up between you and me. This mound is a witness, and this pillar is a witness, that I will not go past this mound to harm you, and you will not go past this mound and pillar to harm me.” – Genesis 31:51-52 NIV
Day 52
Jacob and Laban agreed not to cross the line! Then Jacob made a sacrifice, fed everybody and they spent the night on the mountain! Today let’s read Genesis 53-54 and grab a snack and make a tent to have a pretend camp out! Eat the snack while you are enjoying your “camping”!
“May the God of Abraham and the God of Nahor, the God of their father, judge between us.” So Jacob swore by the Fear of his father Isaac. Then Jacob offered a sacrifice on the mountain and invited his relatives to eat a meal. And after they had eaten, they spent the night on the mountain. – Genesis 31:53-54 NIV
Day 53
After their camp out on the mountain, Laban left to go home! He kissed and blessed his grandchildren and daughters and left! Today let’s read Genesis 31:55 and talk about what your Tiny Arrows do with their grandparents or other members of their family when they leave each other.
