Day 1
We ended Genesis 12, and now we are starting Genesis 13! In preparation for the lessons to come, let’s read all of Genesis 13 to your Tiny Arrows!
Day 2
Abram left Egypt with everything he had been given and headed back towards Canaan. Today let’s read Genesis 13:1 then help your Tiny Arrow fill a bag of their things, find North East on your compass and send your Tiny Arrow in that direction!
So Abram went up from Egypt to the Negev, with his wife and everything he had, and Lot went with him. – Genesis 13:1 NIV
Day 3
When Abram went back to Canaan he had more with him then when he had left. Today let’s read Genesis 13:2 then color Abram heading to Egypt, and Abram leaving Egypt. Everything he had received had made him wealthy!
Abram had become very wealthy in livestock and in silver and gold. – Genesis 13:2 NIV
Day 4
We learned Abram went to Egypt then came back to Canaan. He traveled in the south for a while, until he reached the same spot between Bethel and Ai that he had come to before! This is the second place he had built an alter for the Lord! Today let’s read Genesis 13:3-4 then find your favorite spot to pray and be with Jesus. Let’s spend some time in that spot reading or praying and thanking God that he is always with us!
From the Negev he went from place to place until he came to Bethel, to the place between Bethel and Ai where his tent had been earlier and where he had first built an altar. There Abram called on the name of the Lord. – Genesis 13:3-4 NIV
Day 5
We learned that Abram was very wealthy and had a lot of livestock. His nephew, Lot, also had lots of livestock! Today let’s read Genesis 13:5 then color Abram and Lot!
Now Lot, who was moving about with Abram, also had flocks and herds and tents. – Genesis 13:5 NIV
Day 6
We learned that Abram and Lot both had lots of animals! Today let’s read Genesis 13:6 then grab some string, yarn or ribbon and at least 10 small objects to represent animals and 2 to represent Abram and Lot. Make a small circle with the string and put Abram and Lot in the circle with the 10 animals. Show them how it is crowded with all the animals and Abram and Lot. The space is too small! They could not all stay together!
But the land could not support them while they stayed together, for their possessions were so great that they were not able to stay together. – Genesis 13:6 NIV
Day 7
Today let’s remind our Tiny Arrows about the land being too small for Abram and Lot and everything they had. It was so small that the people who were with Abram and Lot started fighting! And there was more people then just Abram and Lot on that land! Oh my! Today let’s read Genesis 13:7 then recreate the scene from yesterday and grab 4 more objects to represent people. Have one be Abram’s herder, one Lot’s herder, one a Canaanite and the last one a Perizzite! Let’s pretend to have quarreling between the herders and show them how tight the space is!
And quarreling arose between Abram’s herders and Lot’s. The Canaanites and the Perizzites were also living in the land at that time. – Genesis 13:7 NIV
Day 8
In the previous lesson we learned that Abram’s and Lot’s herders were fighting! What do you think they did? Abram and Lot went separate ways! Today let’s read Genesis 13:8-9 and create another circle out of string with the same items from the previous lessons. This time we will move Lot and all of his people and animals out of the circle. Now everyone has more space!
So Abram said to Lot, “Let’s not have any quarreling between you and me, or between your herders and mine, for we are close relatives. Is not the whole land before you? Let’s part company. If you go to the left, I’ll go to the right; if you go to the right, I’ll go to the left.” – Genesis 13:8-9 NIV
Day 9
We learned that Abram and Lot were going to separate! One would go to the left and the other the right! Today let’s read Genesis 13:10-11 and trace Israel and see where Sodom is. Lot choose land that wasn’t in Israel. Land that was not apart of God’s promise to Abram! Keep this coloring page for the next lesson.
Lot looked around and saw that the whole plain of the Jordan toward Zoar was well watered, like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt. (This was before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.) So Lot chose for himself the whole plain of the Jordan and set out toward the East. The two men parted company. – Genesis 13:10-11 NIV
Day 10
Abram choose to live where God had told him to live. Lot decided to live in a beautiful place, but the people by him were wicked! Oh no! Today let’s read Genesis 13:12-13 then draw a tent next to the city of Sodom and write down “Lot’s home” next to it on the coloring page from the previous lesson. Keep this coloring page for the next few lessons too!
Abram lived in the land of Canaan, while Lot lived among the cities of the plain and pitched his tents near Sodom. Now the people of Sodom were wicked and were sinning greatly against the Lord. – Genesis 13:12-13 NIV
Day 11
While Lot was living in Sodom God told Abram that the land around him would be his and his children’s! Today let’s grab the coloring page from the previous lesson and draw Abram in Israel then draw a line above, below and on both sides of him that extends to the top, bottom and sides of Israel! Save this paper for the next lessons!
The Lord said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, “Look around from where you are, to the north and south, to the east and west. All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever.” – Genesis 13:14-15 NIV
Day 12
God told Abram that he would have as many children as there is dust on the earth! That’s a lot! Today let’s read Genesis 13:16 and grab the coloring page from the previous lesson. Draw lots of tiny dots in Israel and around Abram to represent all his offspring! Save this paper for the next lesson!
“I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted.” – Genesis 13:16 NIV
Day 13
God told Abram to walk around the land He had given him, so Abram went to live in Hebron. Today let’s read Genesis 13:17-18 then draw a tent next to Hebron and write “Abram’s home” on the coloring page from the previous lesson!
Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I am giving it to you. So Abram went to live near the great trees of Mamre at Hebron, where he pitched his tents. There he built and alter to the Lord. – Genesis 13:17-18 NIV
Day 14
Today let’s reread Genesis 13 and remember the activities and verses we learned!
