Genesis 24

Day 1

We ended Genesis 23, and now we are starting Genesis 24! In preparation for the lessons to come, let’s read all of Genesis 24 to your Tiny Arrows!

Day 2

Even though Abraham’s wife Sarah had died, Abraham was still blessed! His faith and trust in God led to him moving to a land his children would live in, he and Sarah had a son, he got to live a long time, and he had lots of friends, money, help and food. He was blessed in every way, but there was one thing he still wanted to do. Today let’s read Genesis 24:1, color the coloring page and ask your Tiny Arrow if they know what Abraham wants to do next! Get a wife for his son so he can have grandchildren and continue the inheritance!

Abraham was very old, and the Lord had blessed him in every way. – Genesis 24:1 NIV

Day 3

Abraham asked his servant to go to back to where he had come from, Paddan Aram, and get a wife for his son Isaac! Today let’s read Genesis 24:2-4 and make a path from Hebron to Paddan Aram!

He said to his senior servant in his household, the one in charge of all that he had, “Put your hand under my thigh. I want you to swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and the God of earth, that you will not get a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I am living, but will go to my country and my own relatives and get a wife for my son Isaac. – Genesis 24:2-4 NIV

Day 4

Abraham’s servant agreed to go, but asked Abraham a question. He wanted to know that if he found a woman from his family, and she would not go back with him, should Isaac go back to Paddan Aram? Today let’s read Genesis 24:5 and talk to your Tiny Arrows about where you live now and what would happen if you went back to where you came from. For example, if you were from a different state, country or city, how your life would be different if you went back there to visit or decided to stay.

The servant asked him, “What if the woman is unwilling to come back with me to this land? Shall I then take your son back to the country you came from?” – Genesis 24:5 NIV

Day 5

Abraham told his servant to not take Isaac back to Paddan Aram, but to trust that God would help him. And if the woman would not come back then he would be released from his oath. He could come back without her. Today let’s read Genesis 24:6-9 and ask your Tiny Arrow to do something for you, like to go pick a blue flower from outside (something that they are able to do/find, but it might take some searching). Tell them, if there is no blue flower, then they do not have to bring one back. But encourage them to try hard and to not give up!

“Make sure that you do not take my son back there,” Abraham said. “The Lord, the God of heaven, who brought me out of my father’s household and my native land and who spoke to me and promised me on oath, saying ‘To your offspring I will give this land’ — he will send his angel before you so that you will get a wife for my son from there. If the woman is unwilling to come back with you, then you will be released from this oath of mine. Only do not take my son back there.” So the servant put his hand under the thigh of his master Abraham and swore an oath to him concerning this matter. – Genesis 24:6-9 NIV

Day 6

Abraham’s servant left to go back to Paddan Aram, and he loaded 10 camels with presents! Today let’s read Genesis 24:10 and color the coloring page!

Then the servant left, taking with him ten of his master’s camels loaded with all kinds of good things from his master. – Genesis 24:10 NIV

Day 7

Abraham’s servant set out and went to the town of Nahor! Nahor was the name of Abraham’s grandfather and brother! It could be that the town was named after one of Abraham’s relatives! Today let’s read Genesis 24:10 and together with your Tiny Arrow think of a place, street, etc you know now or from the Bible that is named after a person!

He set out from Aram Naharaim and made his way to the town of Nahor. – Genesis 24:10 NIV

Day 8

Abraham’s servant brought the camels to the town of Nahor and he went straight for a well! Today let’s read Genesis 24:11 and learn about how amazing camels are! Camels can drink about 25 gallons of water in one sitting! Some say they can drink that in 3-10 minutes! That is about 235 bottles of water or 5 3/4 large 40 packs of water! Now compare that to how much water your Tiny Arrow drinks in one day!

Bonus! Have an experiment to see how much water your Tiny Arrow can drink in 3 minutes!

He had the camels kneel down near the well outside the town; it was toward evening, the time the women go out to draw water. – Genesis 24:11 NIV

Day 9

After Abraham’s servant got to the well, he prayed! He wanted God to direct everything! He knew he was in the right place, but wanted God to lead and direct his steps with what Abraham asked him to do! Today let’s read Genesis 24:12 and make a “treasure map”! Get a few pieces of small paper and on them write or draw their next steps. For example. Draw or write a picture of a place in your house. Then after they get there, tell them to look for the next piece of paper with the next place or thing to do on it. Do this at least 3 times until they are in the last place. Then explain that sometimes when we are following God’s instructions we only get them one step at a time, and need to pray for revelation on what the next step is after we accomplished the first one!

Then he prayed, “Lord, God of my master Abraham, make me successful today, and show kindness to my master Abraham.” – Genesis 24:12 NIV

Day 10

Abraham’s servant reached the well and started praying to God! He asked God for clear direction about which woman would be the woman he was suppose to bring back for Isaac! Today let’s read Genesis 24:13-14 and talk to your Tiny Arrows about a time you have asked God for clear and specific direction in something, or another example of it in the Bible.

“See, I am standing beside this spring, and the daughters of the townspeople are coming out to draw water. May it be that when I say to a young woman, ‘Please let down your jar that I may have a drink’ and she says ‘Drink, and I’ll water your camels too’ — let her be the one you have chosen for your servant Isaac. By this I will know that you have shown kindness to my master.” – Genesis 24:13-14 NIV

Day 11

God answered Abraham’s servants prayer right away! Rebekah, Abraham’s relative, came to the well. Today let’s read Genesis 24:15 and talk with your Tiny Arrows. Yesterday we talked about asking God for very specific things. Today let’s discuss a time God answered your prayer right away, or a time it happened in the Bible!

Before he had finished praying, Rebekah came out with her jar on her shoulder. She was the daughter of Bethuel son of Milkah, who was the wife of Abraham‘s brother Nahor. – Genesis 24:15 NIV

Day 12

We learned that Abraham’s servant met Rebekah! Today let’s read Genesis 24:16 and color the coloring page of Rebekah!

The woman was very beautiful, a virgin; no man had ever slept with her. – Genesis 24:16 NIV

Day 13

Rebekah filled her jar with water to bring back home. The jar she was carrying was about 2.5 gallons of water, which is about 19 bottles of bottled water. Today let’s read Genesis 24:16 and try to show your Tiny Arrow want 2.5 gallons of water looks like, and see how much they can lift!

She went down to the spring, filled her jar and came up again. – Genesis 24:16 NIV

Day 14

Abraham’s servant did not waste time in to seeing if God would answer him, he took action! He went to Rebekah and asked her if he could have some of her water! Rebekah said yes! Today let’s read Genesis 24:17-18 and color the coloring page!

The servant hurried to meet her and said, “Please give me a little water from your jar.” “Drink, my lord,“ she said, and quickly lowered the jar to her hands and gave him a drink. – Genesis 24:17-18 NIV

Day 15

After Rebekah had given Abraham’s servant some water, she offered to give his camels water too! She did not have to be told to be kind or generous, she acted out of love and kindness! Today let’s read Genesis 24:19 and do something kind and unexpected for someone!

After she had given him a drink, she said, “I’ll draw water for your camels too, until they have had enough to drink.” – Genesis 24:19 NIV

Day 16

Rebekah worked very hard to get the camels enough water! Remember how we said each camel would drink about 25 gallons, and her jar held about 2.5 gallons! That means she drew 10 jars of water for one camel, and went 100 times to draw water for all 10 camels! That’s hard work! Today let’s read Genesis 24:20-21 and work on the coloring page!

So she quickly emptied her jar into the trough, ran back to the well to draw more water, and drew enough for all his camels. Without saying a word, the man watched her closely to learn whether or not the Lord had made his journey successful. – Genesis 24:20-21 NIV

Day 17

Rebekah just worked very hard giving Abraham’s servant and his camels water to drink! After the camels finished drinking Abraham’s servant gave her some of the presents he had brought! A golden nose ring and bracelets! Today let’s read Genesis 24:22 and circle the presents Abraham’s servant gave Rebekah!

When the camels had finished drinking, the man took out a gold nose ring weighing a beka and two gold bracelets weighing ten shekels. – Genesis 24:22 NIV

Day 18

After Abraham’s servant gave Rebekah the presents, he asked her who her father was and if he could spend the night at her father’s house! He would need space for himself, those who went with him, and his camels! Today let’s read Genesis 24:23 and ask your Tiny Arrow, if they were to invite 3 friends over, and 10 camels, where would they put them?

Then he asked, “Whose daughter are you? Please tell me, is there room in your father’s house for us to spend the night? – Genesis 24:23 NIV

Day 19

Rebekah answered Abraham’s servant, telling him that she was related to Abraham’s brother. Then she told him that there was room for him and his camels! She was also offering to feed the camels! Today let’s read Genesis 24:24-25 and color the coloring page and circle what Rebekah had for the camels!

She answered him, “I am the daughter of Bethuel, the son of that Milkah bore to Nahor And she added, “We have plenty of straw and fodder, as well as room for you to spend the night. – Genesis 24:24-25 NIV

Day 20

Abraham’s servant was so excited! After traveling all the way from Canaan to Paddan Aram and praying to the Lord for clear direction, his prayers were answered right away! He bowed down and worshiped the Lord, praising him! He was getting to know firsthand how good God was and how he could do anything! This might have been Abraham’s servant first encounter with trusting God without Abraham by his side and it became a wonderful testimony about how faithful God is! Today let’s read Genesis 24:26-27 and praise the Lord for how faithful and kind He is!

Then the man bowed down and worshiped the Lord, saying, “Praise be to the Lord, the God of my master Abraham, who has not abandoned his kindness and faithfulness to my master. As for me, the Lord has led me on the journey to the house of my master‘s relatives. – Genesis 24:26-27 NIV

Day 21

Rebekah did not know that doing her daily chore of going to the well could have changed her life forever! She ran and told her mother everything that had just happened! Today let’s read Genesis 24:28 and have your Tiny Arrow or your either share a testimony or a favorite story in the Bible!

The young woman ran and told her mother’s household about these things. – Genesis 24:28 NIV

Day 22

Rebekah ran home and told her family what had happened and her brother ran out to see Abraham’s servant! This is just like when someone tells us something exciting and we want to see it for ourselves! Today let’s read Genesis 24:29-30 and tell our Tiny Arrows something exciting that we just saw/made and encourage them to go see it for themselves!

Now Rebekah had a brother named Laban, and he hurried out to the man at the spring. As soon as he had seen the nose ring, and the bracelets on his sister’s arms, and had heard Rebekah tell what the man said to her, he went out to the man and found him standing by the camels near the spring. – Genesis 24:29-30 NIV

Day 23

Laban, Rebekah’s brother, talked with Abraham’s servant and told him to come back to his house! Today let’s read Genesis 24:31 and ask your Tiny Arrows to go into detail explaining how they would prepare their house or prepare a place for 3 guests and 10 camels. Then talk about ways that you prepare a house when you are having company over!

“Come, you who are blessed by the Lord,” he said “Why are you standing out here? I have prepared the house and a place for the camels.” – Genesis 24:31 NIV

Day 24

Abraham’s servant went to the house and he and his camels were taken care of! They gave the camels food and washed Abraham’s servant and his friend’s feet! Today let’s read Genesis 24:32 and color the coloring page!

So the man went to the house, and the camels were unloaded. Straw and fodder were brought for the camels, and the water for him and his men to wash their feet. – Genesis 24:32 NIV

Day 25

Abraham’s servant was so excited! He just reached Paddan Aram and had already found a woman to bring back for Isaac! All his prayers were coming true! They have gave him some food, but he said he could not eat until he had talked! Today let’s read Genesis 24:33 and demonstrate this for your Tiny Arrow. Set a snack or meal in front of both of you and tell them you cannot eat until you explain or tell them something exciting! Then tell them this is how Abraham’s servant felt! So excited he couldn’t eat!

Then food was set before him, but he said, “I will not eat until I have told you what I have to say. “Then tell us, Laban said. – Genesis 24:33 NIV

Day 26

Abraham’s servant went to Paddan Aram to find a wife for Isaac and he found Rebekah! She helped to get him and his camels water! When he went to Rebekah’s house Abraham’s servant was told to talk and he did! He explained who he was and about Abraham! He told them about everything Abraham had, and how God had blessed him! Today let’s read Genesis 24:34-35 and let your Tiny Arrow’s try to write or tell you a list of how they think God has blessed them and/or your family!

So he said, “I am Abraham’s servant. The Lord has blessed my master abundantly, and he has become wealthy. He has given him sheep and cattle, silver and gold, male and female servants, and camels and donkeys.” – Genesis 24:34-35 NIV

Day 27

Abraham’s servant told Rebekah’s family how Abraham was blessed and then told them that he was even blessed with a son! The promised son to Abraham and Sarah! Today let’s grab 1 piece of plain paper and cut it in half horizontally then fold it together in half, staple the edges, and make a little book! We will be using this for the next few lessons and drawing the story we have been learning! Let’s read Genesis 24:36 and write Genesis 24:36-48 on the cover and draw Sarah, Abraham and baby Isaac on the second (first inside) page.

“My master’s wife Sarah had borne him a son in her old age, and he has given him everything he owns.” – Genesis 24:36 NIV

Day 28

Abraham’s servant continued to share his story with Rebekah’s family and told them how Abraham sent him to Paddan Aram to find a wife for Isaac. Let’s read Genesis 24:37-38 and draw Abraham, Abraham’s servant and a camel on page 3!

“And my master made me swear an oath, and said, ‘You must not get a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I live, but go to my father’s family and to my own clan, and get a wife for my son. – Genesis 24:37-38 NIV

Day 29

Let’s continue Abraham’s servants story and our book! Today we’ll read Genesis 24:39-41 and draw an Angel on page 4!

“Then I asked my master, ‘What if the woman will not come back with me?”“He replied, ‘The Lord, before whom I have walked faithfully, will send his angel with you and make your journey a success, so that you can get a wife for my son from my own clan and from my father‘s family. You will be released from my oath if, when you go to my clan, they refuse to give her to you — then you will be released from my oath.’” – Genesis 24:39-41NIV

Day 30

Let’s continue the story and work on page 5 of our book! We’ll read Genesis 24:42-44 and draw Abraham’s servant praying!

“When I came to the spring today, I said, ‘Lord, God of my master Abraham, if you will, please grant success to the journey on which I have come. See, I am standing beside this spring. If a young woman comes out to draw water and I say to her, “Please let me drink a little water from your jar“ and if she says to me, “Drink, and I’ll draw water for your camels too,” let her be the one the Lord has chosen for my master’s son.’ – Genesis 24:42-44 NIV

Day 31

Let’s continue Abraham’s servants story to Rebekah’s family and our book! Let’s read Genesis 24:45 and draw Rebekah holding a jar on page 6!

“Before I had finished praying in my heart, Rebekah came out, with her jar on her shoulder. She went down to the spring and drew water, and I said to her, ‘Please give me a drink.’ Genesis 24:45 NIV

Day 32

Let’s continue on Abraham’s servants story and read Genesis 24:46 and draw Rebekah giving Abraham’s servant water on page 7!

She quickly lowered her jar from her shoulder and said, ‘Drink, and I’ll water your camels too.’ So I drank, and she watered the camels also. – Genesis 24:46 NIV

Day 33

Let’s continue on Abraham’s servants story and read Genesis 24:47-48 and draw Rebekah wearing bracelets and a nose ring on page 8!

“I asked her, “Whose daughter are you?’“She said, the daughter of Bethuel son of Nahor, who Milkah bore to him.’“Then I put the ring in her nose and the bracelets on her arms, and I bowed down and worshiped the Lord. I praised the Lord, the God of my master Abraham, who had led me on the right road to get the granddaughter of my master’s brother for his son.” – Genesis 24:47-48 NIV

Day 34

Abraham’s servant finished telling Rebekah’s family his testimony and wanted to know if they would let him take Rebekah back with him to Isaac! He wanted to know which way to go! Today let’s read Genesis 24:49 and grab a stuffed animal or toy and put it to the right of your Tiny Arrow. Abraham’s servant knew that Rebekah was the one, but he could not just take her. He needed permission from her family. Then tell your Tiny Arrow if they have permission they can turn right and take the toy, and if they do not, they have to turn left and leave it behind. Tomorrow we will do this lesson again and finish it out!

“Now if you will show kindness and faithfulness to my master, tell me; and if not, tell me, so I may know which way to turn.” – Genesis 24:49 NIV

Day 35

Rebekah’s father said she could go! He gave Abraham’s servant permission! Today let’s repeat the activity we did yesterday and read Genesis 24:50-51. Then tell your Tiny Arrow they can turn right and are allowed to take the toy!

Laban and Bethuel answered, “This is from the Lord; we can say nothing to you one way or the other. Here is Rebekah; take her and go, and let her become the wife of your master’s son, as the Lord has directed. – Genesis 24:50-51 NIV

Day 36

We learned that Rebekah’s family said she could go with Abraham’s servant and be Isaac’s wife! In response Abraham’s servant bowed down before the Lord! He was victorious in his mission! Today let’s read Genesis 24:52 and talk with our Tiny Arrows or read an example from the Bible when we or someone received a promise. What you/they did as their reaction!

When Abraham’s servant heard what they said, he bowed down to the ground before the Lord. – Genesis 24:52 NIV

Day 37

Abraham’s servant bowed down to God when he heard that Rebekah could go with him and then he gave her and her family lots of gifts! Today let’s read Genesis 24:53 and choose some “gifts” for your Tiny Arrow or encourage them to find/make you a “gift” and act out the scene!

Then the servant brought out gold and silver jewelry and articles of clothing and gave them to Rebekah; he also gave costly gifts to her brother and her mother. – Genesis 24:53 NIV

Day 38

Now that Abraham’s servant had told Rebekah’s family why he was there and had been victorious he ate and drank and slept! He was having a victory feast! Today let’s read Genesis 24:54 and discuss with your Tiny Arrows if they were to have a victory feast, what would they want to eat!

Then he and the men who were with him ate and drank and spent the night there. – Genesis 24:54 NIV

Day 39

When Abraham’s servant got up he was ready to return to Abraham, but Rebekah’s mother and brother asked if she could stay home a little while longer before leaving. Abraham’s servant argued that he wanted to leave and not stay. He was successful in finding a wife for Isaac, but now he had to bring Rebekah to Isaac. Today let’s read Genesis 24:54-56 and act out the verses with your Tiny Arrow.

When they got up the next morning, he said, “Send me on my way to my master. But her brother and her mother replied, “Let the young woman remain with us ten days or so; then you may go. But he said to them, “Do not detain me, now that the Lord has granted success to my journey. Send me on my way so I may go to my master. – Genesis 24:54-56 NIV

Day 40

Abraham’s servant wanted to leave right away and Rebekah’s family wanted her to stay a little while longer, so they asked Rebekah what she wanted to do, and she said she would go! Today let’s read Genesis 24:57-58 and talk with your Tiny Arrows about yourself or someone in the Bible who left everything they knew to follow God’s plan!

Then they said, “Let’s call the young woman and ask her about it. So they called Rebekah and asked her, “Will you go with this man? “I will go,” she said. – Genesis 24:57-58 NIV

Day 41

We learned that Rebekah was going to leave home and go with Abraham’s servant and marry Isaac! Before she left her family blessed her! They blessed her to increase and be victorious! Today let’s read Genesis 24:59-60 and pray a blessing over our Tiny Arrows!

So they sent their sister Rebekah on her way, along with her nurse and Abraham’s servant and his men. And they blessed Rebekah and said to her, “Our sister, may you increase to thousands upon thousands; may your offspring possess the city of their enemies. – Genesis 24:59-60 NIV

Day 42

Rebekah left her family. She got on a camel and left with Abraham’s servant! Today let’s read Genesis 24:61, help your Tiny Arrow to “pack a backpack” with things they would take on a long journey, mount a camel (broom or mop?) and take a walk.

The Rebekah and her attendants got ready and mounted the camels and went back with the man. So the servant took Rebekah and left. – Genesis 24:61 NIV

Day 43

Rebekah traveled until she saw Isaac in Beer Lahoi Roi. Today let’s trace the possible route Rebekah took and read Genesis 24:62-64.

So they sent their sister Rebekah on her way, along with her nurse and Abraham’s sNow Isaac had come from Beer Lahoi Roi, for he was living in the Negev. He went out to the field one evening to meditate, and as he looked up, he saw camels approaching. Rebecca also looked up and saw Isaac. – Genesis 24:62-64 NIV

Day 44

When Rebekah saw Isaac she asked who he was! When she found out it was the man she was suppose to marry she took a veil and covered herself. Today let’s read Genesis 24:65 and play a game! Grab a piece of clothing/material/towel that can be used for a veil and ask your Tiny Arrow who they see (pretend). Every time they say Isaac, put the material over your face like a veil!

She got down from her camel and asked the servant, “Who is that man in the field coming to meet us? “He is my master, the servant answered. So she took her veil and covered herself. – Genesis 24:65 NIV

Day 45

Abraham’s servant told Isaac about his travels and all about Rebekah! Then Isaac married Rebekah! Today let’s read Genesis 24:66-67 and color the coloring page of Isaac and Rebekah together!

Then the servant told Isaac all he had done. Isaac brought her into the tent of his mother Sarah, and he married Rebekah. So she became his wife, and he loved her; and Isaac was comforted after his mother’s death. – Genesis 24:66-67 NIV

Day 46

Today let’s reread Genesis 24 and remember the activities and verses we learned!
