Day 1
We ended Genesis 40, and now we are starting Genesis 41! In preparation for the lessons to come, let’s read all of Genesis 41 to your Tiny Arrows!
Day 2
We learned that Jospeh was in prison, and while he was there the chief cupbearer and baker had dreams! Jospeh told both of them what their dreams meant and it happened just like he said! Then two years had passed and now Pharaoh had a dream! Today let’s read Genesis 41:1 and talk about kings having dreams in the Bible! If there is something God is trying to tell them in a dream, they will want to know what it means! Then ask your Tiny Arrow if they know of another king in the Bible that had a dream, Nebuchadnezzar! Then read Daniel 2:1-4 about Nebuchadnezzar having a dream too!
When two full years had passed, Pharaoh had a dream. – Genesis 41:1 NIV
In the second year of his reign, Nebuchadnezzar had dreams; his mind was troubled and he could not sleep. So the king summoned the magicians, enchanters, sorcerers and astrologers to tell him what he had dreamed. When they came in and stood before the king, he said to them, “I have had a dream that troubles me and I want to know what it means.” – Daniel 2:1-4 NIV
Day 3
In Pharaoh’s dream he was standing by the Nile River. The Nile is a huge river in Egypt that gives water for drinking and a way to travel! The Nile was very important in Egypt! Today let’s read Genesis 41:1b and print out and assemble the coloring page into a book, then have them color the first page with the Nile River! Keep this for the next three lessons!
He was standing by the Nile, – Genesis 41:1b NIV
Day 4
Pharaoh had a dream about the Nile river, and 7 cows coming out of the river! Today let’s read Genesis 41:2 and color the second page to the Pharaoh’s dream book. Keep this for the next two lessons!
when out of the river there came up seven cows, sleek and fat, and they grazed along the reeds. – Genesis 41:2 NIV
Day 5
The cows in Pharaohs dream were fat! Then there were seven more cows that came out of the river, but they were skinny! Today let’s read Genesis 41:3 and color the third page to the Pharaoh’s dream book. Keep this for the next lesson!
After them, seven other cows, ugly and gaunt, came up out of the Nile and stood beside those on the riverbank. – Genesis 41:3 NIV
Day 6
Pharaoh dreamed of seven fat and seven skinny cows coming out of the river! The seven skinny cows ate up the fat ones! Then Pharaoh woke up! Today let’s read Genesis 41:4 and color the fourth page to the Pharaoh’s dream book.
And the cows that were ugly and gaunt ate up the seven sleek, fat cows. Then Pharaoh woke up. – Genesis 41:4 NIV
Day 7
After Pharaoh’s first dream about cows he had a second dream! He had two dreams in one night! Today let’s read Genesis 41:5 and ask your Tiny Arrow if they ever had two dreams in a row or tell them a time that you have!
He fell asleep again and had a second dream: – Genesis 41:5 NIV
Day 8
Pharaoh had a second dream right after the first one! This one was not about cows, but grains of wheat! Seven heads of grain were growing on a single stalk! Usually a stalk of grain has one head, and this one had seven! Today let’s read Genesis 41:5b and print, assemble and color the first and second page to the coloring book about Pharaoh’s second dream! Keep this book for the next three lessons!
seven heads of grain, healthy and good, we’re growing on a single stalk. – Genesis 41:5b NIV
Day 9
In Pharaoh’s second dream he saw seven heads of grain on a single stalk! Then seven more heads of grain sprouted after it! But these heads were thin! Today let’s read Genesis 41:6 and color the third page to the Pharaoh’s second dream coloring book. Keep this for the next lesson!
After them, seven other heads of grain sprouted—thin and scorched by the east wind. – Genesis 41:6 NIV
Day 10
In Pharaoh’s dream there was a single stalk with 14 heads of grain! Seven were good and seven were bad! Then the bad ones swallowed up the good ones! Today let’s read Genesis 41:7 and color the fourth page to the Pharaoh’s second dream book.
The thin heads of grain swallowed up the seven healthy, full heads. Then Pharaoh woke up; it had been a dream. – Genesis 41:7 NIV
Day 11
Happy Monday Arrow Makers! Pharaoh had two dreams! One about cows and the other about grain! In the morning he was troubled! He wanted to know what it meant so he sent for all the magicians and wise men to help! Today let’s read Genesis 41:8 and ask your Tiny Arrow when they need help, who do they ask! Then tell them they can always ask God to help them figure things out too!
In the morning his mind was troubled, so he sent for all the magicians and wise men of Egypt. – Genesis 41:8 NIV
Day 12
Pharaoh sent for the magicians and wise men to help him figure out his dreams, but no one could help him! No one could tell him what his dreams meant! Today let’s read Genesis 41:8b and ask your Tiny Arrow who could help Pharaoh find out what the dreams meant. Joseph! Jospeh had already helped two people find out their dreams with God’s help, he could help Pharaoh too!
Pharaoh told them his dreams, but no one could interpret them for him. – Genesis 41:8b NIV
Day 13
No one could help Pharaoh tell him what his dream meant! But then his cupbearer remembered a time when he was in prison! Today let’s read Genesis 41:9-10 and ask your Tiny Arrow if they can remember what happened to the cupbearer in prison! He had a dream and Joseph told him what it meant!
Then the chief cupbearer said to Pharaoh, “Today I am reminded of my shortcomings. Pharaoh was once angry with his servants, and he imprisoned me and the chief baker in the house of the captain of the guard.” – Genesis 41:9-10 NIV
Day 14
The cupbearer told Pharaoh that while he was in prison he had a dream! His friend the baker had one too! Today let’s read Genesis 41:11 then Genesis 40:9-11 and Genesis 40:16-17 to remember their dreams!
“Each of us had a dream the same night, and each dream had a meaning of its own.” – Genesis 41:11 NIV
So the chief cupbearer told Joseph his dream. He said to him, “In my dream I saw a vine in front of me, and on the vine were three branches. As soon as it budded, it blossomed, and its clusters ripened into grapes. Pharaoh’s cup was in my hand, and I took the grapes, squeezed them into Pharaoh’s cup and put the cup into his hand. – Genesis 40:9-11 NIV
When the chief baker saw that Joseph had given a favorable interpretation, he said to Joseph, “I too had a dream: On my head were three baskets of bread. In the top basket were all kinds of baked goods for Pharaoh, but the birds were eating them out of the basket on my head.” – Genesis 40:16-17 NIV
Day 15
The cupbearer and the baker both had dreams and a young Hebrew, with God’s help, told them what they meant! Everything he said happened! Today let’s read Genesis 41:12-13 and ask your Tiny Arrow who told them what their dreams meant! Joseph!
“Now a young Hebrew was there with us, a servant of the captain of the guard. We told him our dreams, and he interpreted them for us, giving each man the interpretations of his dream. And things turned out exactly as he interpreted them to us: I was restored to my position, and the other man was impaled.” – Genesis 41:12-13 NIV
Day 15
Happy Monday Arrow Makers! The cupbearer told Pharaoh that Jospeh could help interpret his dream! But Joseph was in the dungeon! So Joseph was taken out of the dungeon, he got to change his clothes and he got to shave! Today let’s read Genesis 41:14 and color the coloring page of Joseph in the dungeon and coming out!
So Pharaoh sent for Joseph, and he was quickly brought from the dungeon. When he shaved and changed his clothes, he came before Pharaoh. – Genesis 41:14 NIV
Day 16
Pharaoh was glad that Joseph had come! He told Joseph what he had heard about him! He heard that Joseph could internet dreams! Today let’s read Genesis 41:15 and ask your Tiny Arrow what good thing they heard about someone, from someone else. For example, their friend might have told them their other friend had a nice outfit or could run really fast! Just like the cupbearer told Pharaoh something good about Jospeh!
Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I had a dream, and no one can interpret it. But I have heard it said of you that when you hear a dream you can interpret it.” – Genesis 41:15 NIV
Day 17
Even though Pharaoh had told Joseph he heard that he could interpret dreams, Jospeh wanted Pharaoh to know that it wasn’t him, it was God! He even told him that God will do it for him! Today let’s read Genesis 41:16 and ask your Tiny Arrow some of the things God promises to do for us in the Bible. To be with us, to love us, to strength us, give us wisdom, and so much more!
“I cannot do it,” Joseph replied to Pharaoh, “but God will give Pharaoh the answer he desires.” – Genesis 41:16 NIV
Day 18
Jospeh told Pharaoh that God would tell him what his dream meant, so Pharaoh told Joseph his first dream about the cows! Today let’s ask your Tiny Arrow if they can remember and repeat Pharaoh’s first dream, then read them Genesis 41:17-21!
Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “In my dream I was standing on the banks of the Nile, when out of the river there came up seven cows, fat and sleek, and they grazed among the reeds. After them, seven other cows came up—scrawny and very ugly and lean. I have never seems such ugly cows in all the land of Egypt. The lean, ugly cows ate up the seven fat cows that came up first. But even after they ate them, no one could tell that they had done so; they looked just as ugly as before. Then I woke up” – Genesis 41:17-21 NIV
Day 19
Pharaoh told Jospeh his first dream about the cows, then he told him his second dream about the heads of grain! Today let’s ask your Tiny Arrow to recall Pharaoh’s second dream, then read Genesis 41:22-24.
“In my dream I saw seven heads of grain, full and good, growing on a single stalk. After them, seven other heads sprouted—withered and thin and scorched by the east wind. The thin heads of grain swallowed up the seven good heads. I told this to the magicians, but none of them could explain it to me.” – Genesis 41:22-24 NIV
Day 20
Pharaoh told Joseph both of his dreams! Now Joseph, with God’s help, will tell Pharaoh what they mean! God is telling Pharaoh what will happen! He is telling him the future! Today let’s read Genesis 41:25 and ask your Tiny Arrow if God told them the future, what would they want to know!
Then Joseph said to Pharaoh, “The dreams of Pharaoh are one and the same. God has revealed to Pharaoh what he is about to do.” – Genesis 41:25 NIV
Day 21
Pharaoh told Joseph his dreams and Joseph told him what they meant! 7 years of plenty followed by 7 years of famine! Today let’s read Genesis 41:26-27 and count the number of cows and heads of grain!
“The seven good cows are seven years, and the seven good heads of grain are seven years; it is one and the same dream. The seven lean, ugly cows that came up afterward are seven years, and so are the seven worthless heads of gain scorched by the east wind: They are seven years of famine.” – Genesis 41:26-27 NIV
Day 22
God was showing Pharaoh in his dream what he was about to do! Today let’s read Genesis 41:28 and grab a piece of paper and draw something that you are about to do, like go outside or grab a snack, or you can act it out. Then have our Tiny Arrow try to guess what it is based of the picture or your acting!
“It is just as I said to Pharaoh: God has shown Pharaoh what he is about to do.” – Genesis 41:28 NIV
Day 23
God was telling Pharaoh that there will be 7 years of abundance followed by 7 years of famine. But the famine will be so bad that all the abundance will be forgotten! Today let’s read Genesis 41:29-31 and grab 14 small cups and some cereal. One by one fill the first 7 cups until the cereal is at the top. Then only put a few pieces of cereal in the last 7 cups. Point out the cups representing the 7 years of plenty then the cups representing the 7 years of famine and how there are different amounts.
“Seven years of great abundance are coming throughout the land of Egypt, but seven years of famine will follow them. Then all the abundance in Egypt will be forgotten, and the famine will ravage the land. The abundance in the land will not be remembered, because the famine that follows it will be so severe.” – Genesis 41:29-31 NIV
Day 24
Each of Pharaoh’s dreams meant the same thing! But God was telling him the same thing twice because he was telling Pharaoh he was going to do it, and it was going to happen soon! Today let’s read Genesis 41:32 and tell your Tiny Arrow something you are going to do. Then tell them again, then do it! Just like God said it twice then was going to do it!
The reason the dream was given to Pharaoh in two forms is that the matter had been firmly decided by God, and God will do it soon. – Genesis 41:32 NIV
Day 25
We learned that Joseph told Pharaoh what his dreams meant, and now he is going to tell him what actions to take because of them! First he told him to look for a wise man to be in charge! Today let’s read Genesis 41:33 and write down “wise man” on the first line of the checklist. Save this for the next few lessons!
“And now let Pharaoh look for a discerning and wise man and put him in charge of the land of Egypt.” – Genesis 41:33 NIV
Day 26
Joseph told Pharaoh to find a wise man to lead. Then he said appoint men to collect a fifth of the harvest during the 7 years of plenty and put it in the cities! Today let’s read Genesis 41:34-35 and write down collect 1/5 and store. Save this checklist for the next lessons!
“Let Pharaoh appoint commissioners over the land to take a fifth of the harvest of Egypt during the seven years of abundance. They should collect all the food of these good years that are coming and store up the grain under the authority of Pharaoh, to be kept in the cities for food.” – Genesis 41:34-35 NIV
Day 27
Joseph told Pharaoh to look for a wise man, to collect 1/5 of the food and to store that food in the cities! Then when the years of famine come they can use everything the collected! Today let’s read Genesis 41:36 and write down use extras when needed. Save this paper for the next lesson!
“This food should be held in reserve for the country, to be used during the seven years of famine that will come upon Egypt, so that the country may not be ruined by the famine.” – Genesis 41:36 NIV
Day 28
Joseph told Pharaoh what he should do, and Pharaoh liked the plan! But Pharaoh did not want any wise man, he wanted Joseph! Today let’s read Genesis 41:37-39 and write down Joseph under who to choose!
The plan seemed good to Pharaoh and to all his officials. So Pharaoh asked them, “Can we find anyone like this man, one in whom is the spirit of God?” Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has made all this known to you, there is no one so discerning and wise as you.” – Genesis 41:37-39 NIV
Day 29
Pharaoh put Joseph in charge! He was in charge of the palace and everyone had to obey him! He was second in command after Pharaoh, but Pharaoh got to sit in the throne, and Joseph couldn’t. Today let’s read Genesis 41:40-41 and pick a chair in your house to represent the throne. Then tell your Tiny Arrow he will be Joseph, and you will be Pharaoh. Sit in the chair, then tell them they are second in charge but cannot sit on your throne. They cannot sit in your seat!
You shall be in charge of my palace, and all my people are to submit to your orders. Only with respect to the throne will I be greater than you.” So Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I hereby put you in charge of the whole land of Egypt.” – Genesis 41:40-41 NIV
Day 30
Pharaoh decided to make Joseph in charge! He put his own ring on Joseph, then gave him nice clothes and a gold chain! Today let’s read Genesis 41:42 and put one of your rings, necklaces and a scarf or jacket around your Tiny Arrow!

Day 32
Pharaoh made Joseph in charge! He even told him that Joseph could tell people to lift their hands and feet! Today let’s read Genesis 41:44 and play a version of Simon Says, but instead of saying Simon Says, say Joseph Says!
Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I am Pharaoh, but without your word no one will lift hand or foot in all Egypt.” – Genesis 41:44 NIV
Day 33
Pharaoh made Joseph in charge, and then he gave him a new name! He named him Zaphenath-Paneah! Some say it means “God speaks; he lives” and other says it means “explainer or secrets.” Today let’s read Genesis 41:45 and, for fun, give your child a new name that is similar to their personality or something they like to do!
Pharaoh gave Joseph the name Zaphenath-Paneah – Genesis 41:45 NIV
Day 34
Joseph got a new job, a new name and a new wife! Her name was Asenath! Today let’s read Genesis 41:45b and color the coloring page!
and gave him Asenath daughter of Potiphera, priest of On, to be his wife. And Joseph went throughout the land of Egypt. – Genesis 41:45b NIV
Day 35
When Jospeh started his new job as second to Pharaoh he was only 30! Wow! He was also only 17 when he started having dreams! Today let’s read Genesis 41:46 and Genesis 37:2 and have your Tiny Arrow find out about how many years Joseph was in Egypt before he started to work for Pharaoh! He was about 17 when he was sold into slavery, and 30 when he got his new job. 30-17=13! 13 years of slavery in Potiphar’s house and in jail before he worked for Pharoah!
Joseph was thirty years old when he entered the service of Pharaoh king of Egypt. – Genesis 41:46 NIV

Then talk to your Tiny Arrows about something God said would happen and have hope it will come to pass just like He said!
During the seven years of abundance the land produced plentifully. – Genesis 41:47 NIV
“Seven years of great abundance are coming throughout the land of Egypt – Genesis 41:29 NIV
Day 38

Today let’s read Genesis 41:48 and place 5 pieces of cereal or a snack in front of your Tiny Arrow, explain that everyone had to give Joseph 1/5 of their food so he could collect it! Then have your Tiny Arrow take one of the pieces and put them in a cup. Repeat the activity until your Tiny Arrow has a few pieces in their cup!
Joseph collected all the food produced in those seven years of abundance in Egypt and stored it in the cities. – Genesis 41:48 NIV
Day 39
Joseph collected grain from everyone in Egypt! It was so much that he couldn’t count it all! Today let’s read Genesis 41:49 and grab a clear (preferably) glass/jar and some rice or something similar. Pour it into the jar and tell your Tiny Arrow there is so much, it would be hard to count!
Joseph stored up huge quantities of grain, like the sand of the sea; it was so much that he stopped keeping records because it was beyond measure. – Genesis 41:49 NIV
Day 40
Jospeh’s was married to Asenath and they had two sons! Today let’s read Genesis 41:50 and color the coloring page! Save this page for the next two lessons!

The second son he named Ephraim and said, “It is because God has made me fruitful in the land of my suffering.” – Genesis 41:52 NIV
Day 43
Joseph had told Pharaoh that there would be 7 years of abundance followed by 7 years of famine! Today let’s grab 14 objects. Put them in a line and help your Tiny Arrow count out the first 7, telling them it represents the 7 years of abundance, then tell them the next 7 represent the 7 years of famine. The first seven years are done and the next 7 are beginning.
The seven years of abundance came to an end, – Genesis 41:53 NIV
Day 44
The famine had started! There was not just famine in Egypt, it was in all the lands, but in Egypt they had prepared for the famine, so they had food! Today let’s read Genesis 41:54 and color the coloring page!

Day 45
The famine had started and the people were getting hungry! The people asked Pharaoh for food, and he told them to ask Joseph! Today let’s read Genesis 41:55 and have your Tiny Arrow ask you for food, just like the Egyptians asked Joseph!
When all Egypt began to feel the famine, the people cried out to Pharaoh for food. Then Pharaoh told all the Egyptians, “Go to Joseph and do what he tells you.” – Genesis 41:55 NIV
Day 46
When the famine was everywhere, Joseph opened the storehouses and sold the grain he had collected! Today let’s read Genesis 41:56 and grab a jar and fill it with rice or cereal. Then tell your Tiny Arrow to pretend that all the food is gone and this is all that is left! So you have to open the jar and take a little bit out at a time so it will last through the famine!
When the famine had spread over the whole country, Joseph opened all the storehouses and sold grain to the Egyptians, for the famine was severe throughout Egypt. – Genesis 41:56 NIV
Day 47
