Exodus 7

Day 1

We ended Exodus 6, and now we are starting Exodus 7! In preparation for the lessons to come, let’s read all of Exodus 7 to your Tiny Arrows!

Day 2

In Egypt the king of Egypt, or Pharaoh, was suppose to be like a god and the priest to the gods! But God wanted Pharaoh to see Moses like he was a God and Aaron like he was God’s prophet! Today let’s read Exodus 7:1 and ask your Tiny Arrow who was both God and priest. Jesus! He was the only one that was both God and priest!

Then the Lord said to Moses, “See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron will be your prophet.” – Exodus 7:1 NIV

Day 3

God retold Moses that everything He commanded him to say, to say. Even Aaron was suppose to tell Pharaoh to let God’s people go! Today let’s read Exodus 7:2 and play repeat! Say something to your Tiny Arrow and have them repeat what you are saying! Just like Moses repeated God!

“You are to say everything I command you, and your brother Aaron is to tell Pharaoh to let the Israelites go out of his country.”  – Exodus 7:2 NIV

Day 4

God knew that no matter what Moses and Aaron said to Pharaoh, Pharaoh wouldn’t listen! God knew it would take mighty acts of judgement for Pharaoh to say yes! Today let’s read Exodus 7:3-4 and ask your Tiny Arrow if they can remember any of the plagues of Egypt! The river turning to blood, frogs, flies, gnats, dead animals, boo boos, hail, locusts, darkness and the death of the first born!

“But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and though I multiply my signs and wonders in Egypt, he will not listen to you. Then I will lay my hand on Egypt and with mighty acts of judgment I will bring out my divisions, my people the Israelites.” – Exodus 7:3-4 NIV

Day 5

God did not only want the Israelites to know He was saving them, He wanted the Egyptians to know He was also God! Today let’s read Exodus 7:5 and ask your Tiny Arrow if any false god can defeat the real God! No! God wins every time!

And the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring the Israelites out of it.” – Exodus 7:5 NIV

Day 6

Moses and Aaron obeyed God! Even though Moses was 80 and Aaron 83, they still obeyed! Today let’s read Exodus 7:6-7 and talk about people’s ages that your Tiny Arrow knows. Explain to them that no matter what age they are, you still obey God! You are never too old to obey Him!

Moses and Aaron did just as the Lord commanded them. Moses was eighty years old and Aaron eighty-three when they spoke to Pharaoh. – Exodus 7:6-7 NIV

Day 7

God wanted Moses and Aaron prepared when Pharaoh asked them hard questions. He knew that Pharaoh would ask them to perform a miracle, and God told them what to do! To throw down Aaron’s staff and it would become a snake! Just like Moses’ staff had become a snake! Today let’s read Exodus 7:8-9 and Exodus 4:3 when Moses staff became a snake by the burning bush!

The Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “When Pharaoh says to you, ‘Perform a miracle,’ then say to Aaron, ‘Take your staff and throw it down before Pharaoh,’ and it will become a snake.” – Exodus 7:8-9 NIV

The Lord said, “Throw it on the ground.” Moses threw it on the ground and it became a snake, and he ran from it. – Exodus 4:3 NIV

Day 8

Moses and Aaron were prepared to go see Pharaoh. They had God’s words and the miracle they were to perform, so they did it! They went to Pharaoh and threw down Aaron’s staff and it became a snake! Today let’s read Exodus 7:10 and color the coloring page.

So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the Lord commanded. Aaron threw his staff down in front of Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a snake. – Exodus 7:10 NIV

Day 9

Pharaoh was not impressed with Aaron’s staff turning into a snake. He even had his magicians do the same thing! But Aaron’s snake ate up their snakes! Today let’s read Exodus 7:11-12 and have you and your Tiny Arrow pretend your hands are a snake. Then have your Tiny Arrow pretend to eat up your snake!

Pharaoh then summoned wise men and sorcerers, and the Egyptian magicians also did the same things by their secret arts: Each one threw down his staff and it became a snake. But Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staffs. – Exodus 7:11-12 NIV

Day 10

Pharaoh did not care that Moses and Aaron made a snake. His magicians did it too! Pharaoh’s heart became hard and he would not listen to Moses and Aaron. Today let’s read Exodus 7:13 and have your Tiny Arrow go around the house and find items that are hard and items that are soft. Explain that Pharaoh’s heart was hard like the hard object, but God wants our hearts to be soft like the soft object!

Yet Pharaoh’s heart became hard and he would not listen to them, just as the Lord had said. – Exodus 7:13 NIV

Day 11

God knew that Pharaoh’s heart was hard! He knew Pharaoh would not let His people go! God even confirmed to Moses what his heart was hard! Today let’s read Exodus 7:14 and explain to your Tiny Arrow that when God asks them to do something, they should never refuse like Pharaoh did! Remind them they want soft hearts towards God so they are quick to obey!

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Pharaoh’s heart is unyielding; he refuses to let the people go.” – Exodus 7:14 NIV

Day 12

God wanted Moses to talk to Pharaoh again. But he did want them to talk in the palace, he wanted them to talk in a more private place. So Moses was suppose to go see Pharaoh by the Nile river. Today let’s read Exodus 7:15 ask your Tiny Arrow if they had to talk to someone in public where would they go? And if they wanted to talk to someone more privately, where would they go?

“Go to Pharaoh in the morning as he goes out to the river. Confront him on the bank of the Nile, and take in your hand the staff that was changed into a snake.” – Exodus 7:15 NIV

Day 13

Moses went to the Nile river to talk to Pharaoh. He told Pharaoh that God wants him to let His people go! He told Pharaoh, but Pharaoh had not listened and obeyed! Today let’s read Exodus 7:16 remind your Tiny Arrow that Moses has asked Pharaoh to let God’s people go two times already! Pharaoh should have listened and obeyed the first time, just like we should listen and obey the first time!

“Then say to him, ‘The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to say to you: Let my people go, so that they may worship me in the wilderness. But until now you have not listened.’” – Exodus 7:16 NIV

Day 14

Moses is asking Pharaoh again to let God’s people go. But if Pharaoh decides to say no, then Moses is telling him what will happen. All the water in the Nile river, the river they were at, would change to blood. Today let’s read Exodus 7:17 and ask your Tiny Arrow what color the river would change to. Then ask them what do they think will happen to the river and everything living in it, if the water changed to blood!

“‘This is what the Lord says: By this you will know that I am the Lord: With the staff that is in my hand I will strike the water of the Nile, and it will be changed into blood.’” – Exodus 7:17 NIV

Day 15

Moses told Pharaoh the water in the river would change to blood! That means the fish would die, the river would stink and nobody would be able to drink it! Today let’s read Exodus 7:18 and grab two glasses of water and red food coloring. Put the food coloring in one and leave the second cup untouched. Explain to your Tiny Arrow that the water would turn red and the people would not be able to drink it.

“‘The fish in the Nile will die, and the river will stink; the Egyptians will not be able to drink its water.’” – Exodus 7:18 NIV

Day 16

Moses was suppose to warn Pharaoh while Aaron was suppose to take his staff and stretch it over the water! Not only was the river going to be blood, but the streams, canals, ponds, reservoirs and even their water cups! Today let’s read Exodus 7:19 and ask your Tiny Arrow what are the sources of water around them. Maybe there is a lake or pond near by, maybe a stream or pool or even their sink water! Then explain that all of that would be changed to blood!

The Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Take your staff and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt—over the streams and canals, over the ponds and all the reservoirs—and they will turn to blood.’ Blood will be everywhere in Egypt, even in vessels of wood and stone.” – Exodus 7:19 NIV

Day 17

Everything God had told Moses to do about talking to Pharaoh and Aaron putting his staff over water happened! Pharaoh got to see Aaron strike the Nile river and the water turn into blood! Wow! Today let’s read Exodus 7:20 and have your Tiny Arrow color the coloring page and color the water red!

Moses and Aaron did just as the Lord had commanded. He raised his staff in the presence of Pharaoh and his officials and struck the water of the Nile, and all the water was changed into blood. – Exodus 7:20 NIV

Day 18

Just like God said, the fish in the river died and the river smelled really bad! It was so bad that the Egyptians could not drink the water. Today let’s read Exodus 7:21 and talk to your Tiny Arrow about the importance of the Nile river. People used boats on it for transportation. They fished there for food. They bathed in it and got their drinking water from it! Their daily life style had been affected! Everyone was affected from Pharaoh to the lowest slaves! Then go over the water your Tiny Arrow uses everyday and how it would effect them!

The fish in the Nile died, and the river smelled so bad that the Egyptians could not drink its water. Blood was everywhere in Egypt. – Exodus 7:21 NIV

Day 19

God just did a miracle through Aaron! All the water turned to blood! But Pharaoh told his magicians to do the same thing and they did! This made Pharaoh not impressed by what God did! Today let’s read Exodus 7:22 and remind your Tiny Arrow how you made the water turn red with the food coloring. Was that a miracle? No! And what the magicians did was not a miracle either! What God did was a miracle!

But the Egyptian magicians did the same things by their secret arts, and Pharaoh’s heart became hard; he would not listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the Lord had said. – Exodus 7:22 NIV

Day 20

Happy Monday Arrow Makers! Moses and Aaron had talked to Pharaoh by the Nile, turned the water to blood, and Pharaoh just turned away and went home. Today let’s read Exodus 7:23 and have your Tiny Arrow look at the map of the Nile river. They can color the river red and see that it affected so many people! Pharaoh did not care, but what just happened affected the Israelites in Goshen and all the Egyptians!

Instead, he turned and went into his palace, and did not take even this to heart. – Exodus 7:23 NIV

Day 21

The Egyptians could not drink the water from the Nile and they were thirsty! So they decided to dig next to the Nile to get the fresh water from there so they would have water to drink! Today let’s read Exodus 7:24 and grab two cups. Like before put food coloring in one of the cups and hide the other cup either outside or in a different room. Explain to your Tiny Arrow that the water in the Nile was still red, and they have to go and find the clear water so they could drink it! Then have your Tiny Arrow go find the clear cup of water!

And all the Egyptians dug along the Nile to get drinking water, because they could not drink the water of the river. – Exodus 7:24 NIV

Day 22

Even though the Egyptians and Israelites had to deal with the Nile turned to blood for a while, Pharaoh did not let the people go! A week had passed and still Pharaoh’s heart was hard. Today let’s read Exodus 7:25 and have your Tiny Arrow make a fist while you count to seven with them. Explain that for 7 days Pharaoh’s heart was still hard!

Seven days passed after the Lord struck the Nile. – Exodus 7:25 NIV

Day 23

Today let’s reread Exodus 7 and remember some of the activity’s we did!
