Exodus 6

Day 1

We ended Exodus 5, and now we are starting Exodus 6! In preparation for the lessons to come, let’s read all of Exodus 6 to your Tiny Arrows!

Day 2

Moses had been talking to God and asking why nothing had been happening. Why the people had not been rescued. Then God answered Moses! He wanted to make sure that He got all the glory and not Pharaoh. God’s mighty hand would rescue them! Today let’s read Exodus 6:1 and find something heavy that your Tiny Arrow would not be able to lift by themselves. Explain to your Tiny Arrow that Pharaoh letting the Israelites leave is a hard task, like them trying to lift the object. Then have them try to safely lift the object themselves. When they cannot explain that God knows the Israelites cannot leave without his help. Then help your Tiny Arrow lift the object.

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh: Because of my mighty hand he will let them go; because of my mighty hand he will drive them out of his country.” – Exodus 6:1 NIV

Day 3

God told Moses that He was the one that would help the Israelites leave. Then He told him that Abraham, Isaac and Jacob knew Him as God Almighty, but they still did not know Him fully. Today let’s read Exodus 6:2-3 and explain to your Tiny Arrow that when they meet a new friend, they only know them a little bit. They might only know their first name, or their favorite color or what they like to play with. But as you spend more time with them you get to know the friend better! Just like the more we talk and pray with God and read His word we know Him better!

God also said to Moses, “I am the Lord. I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob as God Almighty, but by my name the Lord I did not make myself fully known to them.”  – Exodus 6:2-3 NIV

Day 4

God is telling Moses that Abraham, Isaac and Jacob knew Him as God Almighty. Even though they did not know Him fully, God still gave them a promise to give them the land of Canaan! Today let’s read Exodus 6:4 and Genesis 13:14-17 where God promises Abraham the land!

“I also established my covenant with them to give them the land of Canaan, where they resided as foreigners.” – Exodus 6:4 NIV

The Lord said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, “Look around from where you are, to the north and south, to the east and west. All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever. I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted. Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I am giving it to you.” – Genesis 13:14-17 NIV

Day 5

God is reminding Moses that He heard the groaning of the Israelites and He knows what’s happening to them. Then He said He remembered His promise to them. Today let’s read Exodus 6:5 and ask your Tiny Arrow if they can remember God’s promise to Israel! Even if they forgot God’s promise, God didn’t!

“Moreover, I have heard the groaning of the Israelites, whom the Egyptians are enslaving, and I have remembered my covenant.” – Exodus 6:5 NIV

Day 6

God told Moses to tell the Israelites that He would free them! He would take away their hard burdens! He would do it with acts of judgement! Today let’s read Exodus 6:6 and put something heavy on your Tiny Arrows shoulders. This could be a backpack or something similar. Then have them walk around for a little while. Afterwards, come up behind them and take it off. Explain that God would take away the Israelites burdens just like you took off their backpack!

Therefore, say to the Israelites: ‘I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment. – Exodus 6:6 NIV

Day 7

God told Moses that He would be their God and help them! He wanted them to know that He cared for them so much and He wanted them to know it was Him that helped! Today let’s read Exodus 6:7 and today point out each time you help your Tiny Arrow with something. Like tying their shoes, getting them a meal, etc. Explain that you are helping them because you love them, just like God loves the Israelites!

“‘I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians.’” – Exodus 6:7 NIV

Day 8

God told Moses that He would bring the Israelites to the promised land! He promised! Today let’s read Exodus 6:8 and hold up your hand. Explain to your Tiny Arrow that holding up your hand while you say a promise is showing the other person you will keep it! Just like God would keep His promise!

“‘And I will bring you to the land I swore with uplifted hand to give to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob. I will give it to you as a possession. I am the Lord.’” – Exodus 6:8 NIV

Day 9

Moses told the Israelites everything God had told him! He wanted them to be encouraged, but instead the Israelites did not listen and became discouraged! Today let’s read Exodus 6:9 and encourage your Tiny Arrow about something, then have them encourage someone else about something!

Moses reported this to the Israelites, but they did not listen to him because of their discouragement and harsh labor. – Exodus 6:9 NIV

Day 10

God knew His people were still discouraged, but He did not want Moses to give up! He told Moses to tell Pharaoh again to let His people go. Today let’s read Exodus 6:10-11 and tell your Tiny Arrow a story from your life or from the Bible where God continued to encourage you/them to do His will! (God encouraged Gideon before the battle with the Midianites, and God encouraged Abraham that he would have children).

Then the Lord said to Moses, Go, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt to let the Israelites go out of his country.” – Exodus 6:10-11 NIV

Day 11

God wanted Moses to go back to Pharaoh to let His people go! But Moses thought Pharaoh would not listen to him, because he had faltering lips! Today let’s read Exodus 6:12 and have your Tiny Arrow pretend to be Pharaoh while you pretend to be Moses. Try to speak to your Tiny Arrow as you make an exasperated sigh, making it hard to speak. Then explain Moses said it was hard for him to speak too!

But Moses said to the Lord, “If the Israelites will not listen to me, why would Pharaoh listen to me, since I speak with faltering lips?” – Exodus 6:12 NIV

Day 12

God had spoke to Moses and Aaron about the Israelites and setting them free! Moses and Aaron were Israelites too! Today let’s read Exodus 6:13 and explain that God wanted Moses and Aaron to help their family! Just like they could be called to help their family! Then tell your Tiny Arrows different ways they can bless, be kind or pray for their family!

It was this Aaron and Moses to whom the Lord said, “Bring the Israelites out of Egypt by their divisions.” – Exodus 6:26 NIV

Day 26

Levi’s grandsons helped all the Israelites leave Egypt and talk to Pharaoh! Today let’s read Exodus 6:27 and talk to your Tiny Arrow about peoples names in the Bible. Sometimes there are people with the same names, just like in real life! The Bible wanted to make sure you knew which Moses and Aaron were the ones who spoke to Pharaoh! Then talk to your Tiny Arrow about two people in the Bible, or two people they know, with the same name and ask them how they would distinguish who is who.

“They were the ones who spoke to Pharaoh king of Egypt about bringing the Israelites out of Egypt—this same Moses and Aaron.” – Exodus 6:27 NIV
