Genesis 50

Day 1

We ended Genesis 49, and now we are starting Genesis 50! In preparation for the lessons to come, let’s read all of Genesis 50 to your Tiny Arrows!


Day 2

Jacob has died, and Joseph was so sad he cried, gave him a big hug and kissed him! Jacob meant a lot to Joseph and Jospeh had meant a lot of Jacob! Jacob had even given Joseph a special coat! Today let’s read Genesis 50:1 and tell your Tiny Arrow something special about them, and have them tell you something special about you! Then give each other a hug and a kiss!

Joseph threw himself on his father and wept over him and kissed him. – Genesis 50:1 NIV


Day 3

Joseph told the doctors to embalm Jacob and they did! He wanted to make sure Jacob’s body was taken care of! Only important people got to be embalmed, and Jacob was one of them! It even took 40 days to do! Today let’s read Genesis 50:2 and help your Tiny Arrow count to 40!

Then Joseph directed the physicians in his service to embalm his father Israel. So the physicians embalmed him taking a full forty days, for that was the time required for embalming. – Genesis 50:2-3 NIV


Day 4

Jacob was embalmed for 40 days, and the Egyptians mourned for him for 70 days! Today let’s read Genesis 50:3 and help your Tiny Arrow count to 70!

And the Egyptians mourned for him seventy days. – Genesis 50:3 NIV


Day 5

After 70 days Joseph asked Pharaoh’s court if he could bring Jacob back to Hebron to be buried! Today let’s read Genesis 50:4-5 and Genesis 49:29-30! What Joseph said to Pharaoh and what Jacob said to Joseph!

When the days of mourning had passed, Joseph said to Pharaoh’s court, “If I have found favor in your eyes, speak to Pharaoh for me. Tell him, My father made me swear an oath and said, “I am about to die; bury me in the tomb I dug for myself in the land of Canaan.” Now let me go up and bury my father; then I will return.’ ” – Genesis 50:4-5 NIV

Then he gave them these instructions: “I am about to be gathered to my people. Bury me with my fathers in the cave in the field of Ephron the Hittite,the cave in the field of Machpelah, near Mamre in Canaan, which Abraham bought along with the field as a burial place from Ephron the Hittite.” – Genesis 49:29-30 NIV


Day 6

Joseph asked Pharaoh if he could bury his father in Canaan and Pharaoh said yes! Today let’s read Genesis 50:6 and tell your Tiny Arrow to do something, then have them ask you permission to do it, then have them go do it!

Pharaoh said, “Go up and bury your father, as he made you swear to do.” – Genesis 50:6 NIV


Day 7

Joseph didn’t travel to Canaan alone to bury his dad! Lots of important people from Egypt went with him too! Today let’s read Genesis 50:7 and color Joseph on the coloring page, then cut out an add tbe Egyptians next to him. Save this coloring page for the next lesson!

So Joseph went up to bury his father. All Pharaoh’s officials accompanied him—the dignitaries of his court and all the dignitaries of Egypt— – Genesis 50:7 NIV


Day 8

Joseph went to bury his dad and important people from Egypt went too! His family also came! Today let’s read Genesis 50:8 then cut out and add Joseph’s family to the other side of Joseph on the coloring page! Save this for the next lesson!

besides all the members of Joseph’s household and his brothers and those belonging to his father’s household. Only their children and their flocks and herds were left in Goshen. – Genesis 50:8 NIV


Day 9

Joseph, Egyptians and his family all went to Canaan to bury Jacob. Chariots and horses went too! Lots of people! Today let’s read Genesis 50:9 and add the chariot and horses by Joseph on the coloring page!

Chariots and horsemen also went up with him. It was a very large company. – Genesis 50:9 NIV


Day 10

When they reached the threshing floor of Atad Joseph’s mourned for 7 days! Today let’s read Genesis 50:10 and 50:3 and have your Tiny Arrow count the days together to see how long the people had mourned for in total. 70+7=77!

When they reached the threshing floor of Atad, near the Jordan, they lamented loudly and bitterly; and there Joseph observed a seven-day period of mourning for his father. – Genesis 50:10 NIV

And the Egyptians mourned for him seventy days. – Genesis 50:3 NIV


Day 11

Joseph mourned for his dad for 7 days and the people who lived there got to see it! They even named the place Abel Mizraim which means mourning of the Egyptians! Today let’s read Genesis 50:11 and have your Tiny Arrow rename a place or room based off what had happened there recently!

When the Canaanites who lived there saw the mourning at the threshing floor of Atad, they said, “The Egyptians are holding a solemn ceremony of mourning.” That is why that place near the Jordan is called Abel Mizraim. – Genesis 50:11 NIV


Day 12

Jacob had asked his sons to bring him to Hebron and they did! They obeyed! Today let’s read Genesis 50:12 and give your Tiny Arrow a task that they can quickly obey!

So Jacob’s sons did as he had commanded them: – Genesis 50:12 NIV


Day 13

Jacob’s sons carried their dad to Hebron and buried him! He was buried with his family! Today let’s read Genesis 50:13 and ask your Tiny Arrow what Jacob’s sons were suppose to do! Bring him to Canaan and bury him in the cave that Abraham had bought!

They carried him to the land of Canaan and buried him in the cave in the field of Machpelah, near Mamre, which Abraham had bought along with the field as a burial place from Ephron the Hittite. – Genesis 50:13 NIV


Day 14

After they had buried Jacob everyone returned to Egypt! Even though the famine was over, Joseph’s brothers choose go back too! Today let’s read Genesis 50:14 and color and trace the map of their route going home to Egypt!

After burying his father, Joseph returned to Egypt, together with his brothers and all the others who had gone with him to bury his father. – Genesis 50:14 NIV


Day 15

Now that Jacob was dead, Joseph’s brothers were afraid that Joseph would be mean to them! Because they had been mean to Joseph! Today let’s read Genesis 50:15 and Ephesians 4:32 and ask your Tiny Arrow if Joseph should for give them! Yes! The Bible says we should forgive!

When Joseph’s brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, “What if Joseph holds a grudge against us and pays us back for all the wrongs we did to him?” – Genesis 50:15 NIV

Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. – Ephesians 4:32 NIV


Day 15

Jospeh got a message from his brothers with a note saying that his dad wanted Joseph to forgive them! When Joseph got the note, he wept! He was sad that his brothers and father didn’t think he would forgive. Today let’s read Genesis 50:16-17 and help your Tiny Arrow write forgive on a piece of paper. Then have them give it to you, or vice versa. Then have the person who received the note pretend to weep! Just like Joseph did!

So they sent word to Joseph, saying, “Your father left these instructions before he died: This is what you are to say to Joseph: I ask you to forgive your brothers the sins and the wrongs they committed in treating you so badly.’ Now please forgive the sins of the servants of the God of your father.” When their message came to him, Joseph wept.
– Genesis 50:16-17 NIV


Day 16

Jospeh’s brothers gave him a note that said they wanted him to forgive them. Then they came to see Joseph and threw themselves at him and said “We are your slaves!” Today let’s read Genesis 50:18 and have whoever played the note carrier in the previous activity throw themselves down in front of the other person and say “I am your slave!”

His brothers then came and threw themselves down before him. “We are your slaves,” they said. – Genesis 50:18 NIV


Day 17

Joseph did not want his brothers to fear him! He told them to not be afraid! Today let’s read Genesis 50:19 and have the person who didn’t bow in the previous lesson tell the other that they should not be afraid!

But Joseph said to them, “Don’t be afraid. Am I in the place of God? – Genesis 50:19 NIV


Day 18

Joseph told his brothers to not be afraid! Then he told them that being in Egypt was all apart of God’s plan! He was able to help save lives! Today let’s read Genesis 50:20 and ask your Tiny Arrow how Joseph helped to save lives. By telling Pharaoh what his dream meant and storing up grain!

“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” – Genesis 50:20 NIV


Day 19

Joseph told his brothers to not be afraid and everything that happened was a part of God’s plan! Then he told them he would still provide for them! Today let’s read Genesis 50:21 and have the person who wept in the previous activities get the other person a snack.

“So then, don’t be afraid. I will provide for you and your children.” And he reassured them and spoke kindly to them. – Genesis 50:21 NIV


Day 20

Joseph and his family continued to live in Egypt! Joseph lived to be 110 years old! Wow! Today let’s read Genesis 50:22 and count to 110! Then tell your Tiny Arrow the oldest person they know and how old they are!

Joseph stayed in Egypt, along with all his father’s family. He lived a hundred and ten years – Genesis 50:22 NIV


Day 21

Joseph lived to see Ephraim’s great grand children! He even got to adopt Makir’s sons like Jacob adopted his sons! Today let’s read Genesis 50:23 and place your Tiny Arrow on your knees and tell them who they know, that is alive today, that has grandchildren, great grand children, or even great, great grandchildren!

and saw the third generation of Ephraim’s children. Also the children of Makir son of Manasseh were placed at birth on Joseph’s knees. – Genesis 50:23 NIV


Day 22

Joseph knew that the Israelites would one day leave Egypt and he wanted them to bring his bones to Canaan when they did! Today let’s read Genesis 50:24-25 and have your Tiny Arrow carry a toy from one room to another. The first room representing Egypt, and the second Canaan!

Then Joseph said to his brothers, “I am about to die. But God will surely come to your aid and take you up out of this land to the land he promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. And Joseph made the Israelites swear an oath and said, “God will surely come to your aid, and then you must carry my bones up from this place.” – Genesis 50:24-25 NIV


Day 23

Joseph died and was place in a coffin in Egypt! Today let’s read Genesis 50:26 and color the coloring page!

So Joseph died at the age of a hundred and ten. And after they embalmed him, he was placed in a coffin in Egypt. – Genesis 50:26 NIV
