Day 1
We ended Exodus 2, and now we are starting Exodus 3! In preparation for the lessons to come, let’s read all of Exodus 3 to your Tiny Arrows!
Day 2
Moses had a new job! He was a shepherd! He took care of his father-in-laws sheep! One day he brought them to a mountain, it was called the mountain of God! Today let’s read Exodus 3:1 and color the coloring page! Save this for the next few lessons!
Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. – Exodus 3:1 NIV
Day 3
While Moses was on the mountain, he saw a bush that was on fire! Moses did not think it was strange until he saw that the bush did not burn up! The fire was not harming the bush! Today let’s read Exodus 3:2 and have your Tiny Arrow color red flames on the bush from the previous lesson’s coloring page! Save this for the next two lessons!
There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. – Exodus 3:2 NIV
Day 4
Moses saw a bush on fire, but it was not burning up! It was a strange sight to see! Today let’s read Exodus 3:3 and, using the coloring page from the previous lesson, explain to your Tiny Arrow why it was strange for the fire to not burn up the bush. Then ask them if they can name something they would think would be strange to see! Save the coloring page for one more lesson!
So Moses thought, “I will go over and see this strange sight—why the bush does not burn up.” – Exodus 3:3 NIV
Day 5
God was watching Moses as he was taking care of the flock, and he saw that he had come closer to the bush that was on fire! When God saw that he was near, He called out Moses’ name! Moses even answered! Today let’s read Exodus 3:4 and put the coloring page somewhere and have your Tiny Arrow go and find it! Watch them as they go to find it, then when they get close to it, call out their name and encourage them to answer!
When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!” And Moses said, “Here I am.” – Exodus 3:4 NIV
Day 6
Moses found a bush on fire that was not burning up! He got closer and God spoke to him out of the fire! He told Moses to take off his sandals because he was on holy ground! Today let’s read Exodus 3:5 and have your Tiny Arrow put their shoes on. Then go close by and call their name. When they get to you, have them take off their shoes like Moses did!
“Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.” – Exodus 3:5 NIV
Day 7
God was speaking to Moses out of a burning bush! First He told him to take off his sandals then He told him who He was! The God of his ancestors! That made Moses hid his face! Today let’s read Exodus 3:6 and tell your Tiny Arrow “Moses is speaking to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob” then have them hide their face like Moses did!
Then he said, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.” At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God.
– Exodus 3:6 NIV
Day 8
God was talking to Moses! He told him that He saw his people being unhappy and not being taken care of. God is a good father and wanted to help! Today let’s read Exodus 3:7 and talk to your Tiny Arrow about when they get hurt. Just like you help them get a bandaid when they need one, God wanted to help his people too!
The Lord said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering.” – Exodus 3:7 NIV
Day 9
God didn’t want his people to live in the same place anymore! He wanted them to move! Today let’s read Exodus 3:8a and see where the Israelites lived and where God wanted them to move too! Save this for the next lesson!
So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey— – Exodus 3:8a NIV
Day 10
God wanted his people to move into a good land! But this land already had people living in it. Today let’s read Exodus 3:8b and circle the names of the other people groups on the map coloring page!
the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. – Exodus 3:8b NIV
Day 11
God heard his people crying out to Him for help and wanted Moses to go help them! Today let’s read Exodus 3:9-10 and grab a stuffed toy. Place the stuffed toy near your child and pretend they are making crying noises. Then encourage your Tiny Arrow to get the toy and to take care of it. Just like God wanted to send Moses to help His people.
“And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them. So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.” – Exodus 3:9-10 NIV
Day 12
God told Moses to go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt! Moses didn’t think he was qualified enough to do it! He didn’t think he could do it! Today let’s read Exodus 3:11 and ask your Tiny Arrow to do a hard job. Something they could not do on their own. Then have them try to do it. When they cannot do it, explain to them that is how Moses felt! He felt like he couldn’t do his job either! Then help them do the task and tell your Tiny Arrow that with God’s help you can do anything He asks you to do!
But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?” – Exodus 3:11 NIV
Day 13
God told Moses to do a big job! So big that Moses didn’t think he could do it! But God told him that He would go with him! He even told Moses that he would come back to the mountain he was on! Back to where he started from! Today let’s read Exodus 3:12 and go for a small walk with your Tiny Arrow. Point out to them where they started from and go back to that same place when you are done. Explain that where Moses started would be the same place he took the Israelites on their way back!
And God said, “I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain.” – Exodus 3:12 NIV
Day 14
Moses asked God what His name was and God answered! He said I AM who I AM! Today let’s read Exodus 3:13-14 and ask your Tiny Arrow their name. After they respond have them ask you your name. After you respond emphasis that Moses asked God His name and He said I AM!
Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?” God said to Moses, “I AM who I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ” – Exodus 3:13-14 NIV
Day 15
Moses asked God his name and God told him I AM. Then God said He was the same God as their fathers; Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He is not a new God, but the same one his family has known for a long time! Today let’s read Exodus 3:15 and explain to your Tiny Arrow that Moses was not asking the Israelites to believe in someone that was new to them, but someone they knew for a long time! Just like they would trust someone in their family over a stranger because they knew them better!
God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.’ – Exodus 3:15 NIV
Day 16
God told Moses His name! Then He told Moses to call Him that forever! He even wanted his children and grandchildren and beyond to call Him by that name! Today let’s read Exodus 3:16a and ask your Tiny Arrow their name. Even though they might have nicknames from time to time, they will always be called by that name!
“This is my name forever, the name you shall call me from generation to generation.” – Exodus 3:16a NIV
Day 17
God wanted Moses to talk to the elders of Israel! He wanted Moses to tell them His name and that He knew what was going on! Today let’s read Exodus 3:16b and have your Tiny Arrow do an activity while you watch. After a little while explain that just like you were watching them, God was watching over the Israelites!
“Go, assemble the elders of Israel and say to them, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob—appeared to me and said: I have watched over you and have seen what has been done to you in Egypt.’” – Exodus 3:16b NIV
Day 18
Moses was suppose to tell the elders of Israel God’s plan! He wanted to bring them out of Egypt and go to Canaan! Today let’s read Exodus 3:17 and talk about being a leader. The leaders of Israel were going to be told God’s plan first! By having the leader know the plan first, they can better lead the others! Then tell your Tiny Arrow a plan (for example go into another room and get something) and then have them lead you and go and do it!
“‘And I have promised to bring you up out of your misery in Egypt into the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites—a land flowing with milk and honey.’” – Exodus 3:17 NIV
Day 19
God wanted Moses to go to the elders of Israel first. Then he was suppose to go to Pharaoh and tell him God’s plan! God wanted the leaders of Israel to know God’s plan, then God wanted the king of Egypt to know His plan too. Today let’s read Exodus 3:18 and have some people in your household, or toys, represent the elders of Israel and Pharaoh. Tell your Tiny Arrow a plan, like what’s for dinner, and have your Tiny Arrow first tell the person/toy representing Israel what you said, and then the person/toy representing Pharaoh!
“The elders of Israel will listen to you. Then you and the elders are to go to the king of Egypt and say to him, ‘The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us. Let us take a three-day journey into the wilderness to offer sacrifices to the Lord our God.’” – Exodus 3:18 NIV
Day 20
God knew that when Moses told the king of Egypt to let His people leave, the king would not let them go unless he had too. Today let’s read Exodus 3:19 and grab a stuffed animal to represent the Israelites. Tell your Tiny Arrow they will pretend to be Pharaoh and that you are Moses. Tell them you want the toy to go into another room, and have them respond with ‘no’. Then pick up the toy and move it yourself, explaining that something stronger and bigger than Pharaoh would change his mind.
“But I know that the king of Egypt will not let you go unless a mighty hand compels him.”
– Exodus 3:19 NIV
Day 21
God told Moses that He would stretch out his hand and perform wonders! After the wonders they would be able to go! Today let’s read Exodus 3:20 and ask your Tiny Arrow if they can remember or name any of the 10 plagues of Egypt!
“So I will stretch out my hand and strike the Egyptians with all the wonders that I will perform among them. After that, he will let you go.” – Exodus 3:20 NIV
Day 22
God told Moses that when the Israelites leave Egypt they will go with more than what they had! Today let’s read Exodus 3:21 and grab three toys. Tell your Tiny Arrow to go from one spot to another with them holding one of the toys. Before they go, give them the other two to take with them as well. Then explain that the Israelites were given more just like them!
“And I will make the Egyptians favorably disposed toward this people, so that when you leave you will not go empty-handed.” – Exodus 3:21 NIV
Day 23
The Israelites were to ask their neighbors for silver, gold and clothing! They would plunder the Egyptians by asking and receiving! Today let’s read Exodus 3:22 and have your Tiny Arrow ask you for a certain toy or snack that you have on hand. Have them ask you for 2-3 things and give it to them, just like the Egyptians gave the things to the Israelites!
“Every woman is to ask her neighbor and any woman living in her house for articles of silver and gold and for clothing, which you will put on your sons and daughters. And so you will plunder the Egyptians.” – Exodus 3:22 NIV
Day 24
Today let’s reread Exodus 3 and remember some of the activity’s we did!
